Catachans

hi there im due to fight some catachan jungle fighters and im a bit unsure on what to take to do the job, i know that they are going to have alot of heavy weapons and im a bit worride bout that what can i do to sort them out im looking at about a 1500 point game any help welcome and ill try and get an army list to you all thnx again :lol:

Ill ask for everyone else, what kind of army do you use?

And only really worry about Jungle fighters if your fighting a jungle battle, otherwise treat them like gaurd with 6+ saves, and no way of penetrating av14 without meltas. And sniper rifles.

But DO worry if your playing jungle, cause thats were they excel.

Generically, flamers, meltas, men, by the truckload, if you must take tanks take small ones that can do CC like dreadnaughts, flying units are useful so raptors with two flamers, Daemon princes are very hard for IG to deal with if you get them stuck in so get wings and possibly something like wind of chaos to template of doom them, warptime isnt neccesary against IG, one nasty thing is gift of chaos, versus toughness three your gonna be doing it a lot and getting units against spawn is very hard on IG, T5, equal weapon skill, your going to be keeping that unit from shooting for a while.

 

Thats generic advise as a whole for jungle fighting.

just run greater daemon- 2 sorcs's with lash and 10 berserks each - 9 oliberators and rest bikers with mon - move bikers 24 let them shoot at them 3 inv save 6 toughnes- if they kill take out GR and assasult - lash HW squads closer so you can attack and they cant shoot

Ok, Cypher has no current rules, Youll have to choose between the lord, Arhiman and Faubis Bile

Noise marines will be usefull, flamer weapons work well against cover after all.

The Bezekers will be good too, assulting IG is almost always a good thing.

If its a Jungle fight, leave the rihno's, Preds and Bikers at home, theyll get destroyed too easily.

Raptors can jump OVER terrain and thus are very usefull.

The Dread avoids the vehicle rules in terrain, so its another good add.

The Havoks stay at home unless they're equipped with assult weapons (flamers/Meltas)

The Termis can form a retinue for the Lord, so take them too.

Thats everything.

Im seconding what wolf lord Leo has said, listen to the wisdom of the long fanged one :D.

 

One thing i will say is terminators, in close quarters the IG have meltaguns and plasma, despite that i think that with intelligent maneuvering, you can keep them out of harms way long enough to charge and clear out with the heavy flamer, and perhaps an autocannon to crack open sentinels, the average imperial guardsmen will have serious trouble taking them down with his lasgun or bayonet, or even his flamer, missile launcher, or indeed grenade launcher.

I should change my name, I dont play wolves anymore...

 

If its a jungle fight, take lots of flamer weapons, dont worry about vehicles unless their sentinals (I think they have AV 10 all round so even a bolter can take it out).

Know what I always wanted to do? Play an Apoc game against Catachans in their jungle enviro, and drop a Plant Bomb. Kill all the foliage >:-). Seriously, just treat them like normal IG. They don't really bring tanks, like others said, and Sentinels are easy to take down.

Hi there thnx for the advise i had a good game and nearly wiped him out in two turns lol this is what i finally used.

 

chaos lord in terminator armour and plasma pistol.

5 raptors with melta gun, flamer, power axe, and to close combat.

5 terminators with reaper autocannon, 2 power fists with combibolters, chainfist combibolter and heavy flamer

10 berzerkers champion with powerfist

3 obliterators

7 havocs with havoc misile launcher, lascannon, heavy bolter and 4 normal troops

1 preadator with lascannon side sponsons and reaper autocannon

5 bikers

 

the bikers wiped out nearly 3 squads due to rapid fire rules

it depends on what terain your fighting on because if its jungle they get alot of special abilitys like booby traps demolition teams and a person called sly marble also there are codex settings for them the standard ig codex and the catachan one if in jungle no lascannons but in ig one no lascannons but they can use tanks and all the guard armour
