Captain Idaho
they have just stripped out all the fun in my eyes, took it too far. Lion in the Stars
I knew this was going to get ugly, Refuse got rather upset-sounding in the other thread. I gotta agree with the comments that GW has pulled the soul out of the game for me, now. My last purchase of GW product was a bits order before christmas, so that I can work on some conversions. The purchase before that was the DA codex (singularly NOT inspired by that book, although the company veteran squads will get some conversion love). I've spent more on FW stuff in the last 3 years than I have in 40k (nevermind the Tau army that has something like 5 GW models in it +the 36 Fire Warriors), and that's mostly been books. Y'all have said it better than I will... but a line from way back in the day comes to mind: "Where's the beef," GW? where's the cool story and rules that reflect flavor. I play Flames of War, and there's a lot of small special rules to make the armies different from each other... not just better, different! The Privateer Press issue is related, each army has a broad theme that it plays to, but there are individual variations in tone and color. (Using the metallica analogy, it all sounds *like* metallica, even if some of the songs are blazingly fast, and some are much slower-paced) What this new chaos dex reads like is a bunch of schoolkids singing "Are you sleeping?" It's all the same music, not varying with the theme anymore. It doesn't help that there's talk of completely losing Specialist Games soon, too. I may end up selling off a lot of my GW stuff, except the major conversions, because I don't need that stuff taking up storage space if I'm not playing.
