I'm not just sure... I'm Destroyer Plague Positive

Recommended Posts

Another one-off modeling project. For some reason I thought it would be fun to make a Plague Marine, and before you know it I was drilling holes and making epoxy bowels.... wait that just sounds wrong :X

These are un-edited pictures since resizing kills quality:

Well for conversion parts I used a piece of snake from a lizard men sprue (I think), flipped the exhausts on the pack and make them look like gooey cauldrons, and made the left arm to look like it's dragging the bolter like a zombie. The left foot will be painted as if the plate melted off, and the toes will be bone. Lastly I will be putting in some brains in the helmet hole.

You know, I've always wanted to see a plague marine with a big ol tank of infectious goo on his back and a hose in one hand, spouting horrible goo that he jams into peoples faces in battle... your model made me think of that, it looks great!

Nurgly goodness.

I had a Nurgle episode a few weeks ago, I'm glad I left my terminators alone though because they're off limits to chaos.

I like the caved in head and multiple holes, makes you think straight away that this iosn't a chaos marine...THIS IS A ZOMBIE MARINE!!

Hope to see more soon.

well done,

TiJ

Well I worked on it a bit more today. Nothing much, just more drilling out of the helmet. I decided against the brains, and instead I just put in a head. I know it isn't extreme, but I haven't seen anything else like it outside of artwork. If I ever get around to making a second one, I'll chop the top of the head off instead, so it will be better for a lobotomy. The missing shoulderpad is chipped to about 2/3 it's original size so I'll be putting in more pus and strands going out in it's place.

*rings dinner triangle like they do in cowboy movies* UPDATE TIME!

I started on the color for the armor. I like how it turned out, but it'll probably lost while I try to paint the details. Curse my shaky hands =(

Great looking marine. I really like the upturned "cauldrons" and the heavy damage to the helmet. I may be borrowing that idea...

I recently started working on a plague marine unit; they are so much fun to greenstuff and tear up, aren't they? Keep it up!

If you want to use that idea, go ahead. I must warn you though: It's the most boring and long procedure I have done to date. It stated with me stealing the bionic eye bit from the helmet months ago for a kroot conversion. I was left with a helmet missing the left upper half of it's face. Then I used a knife/pin vise to make it hollow. I was originally going to just GS some brains in there, but I decided to take it to a whole new level... curse me and taking leaps and bounds B) . Drill from the neck area, connect holes, enjoy spending 10+ minutes cleaning and sanding out new hole, then chop down a catachan head to fit.

I would be greatly honored if anyone else used this idea, and would appreciate it even more if you posted your work on this thread (or PMed me your results).

Started rust holes. I might go back over things, darken out cracks, and so forth. Just a quick paint update. Next up is rims and details.

Alrighty, another painting update. Not sure who's following this, but thanks to whoever even opens this. Sorry that the painting isn't up to the standards of most users (just how many of you win a golden daemon every year anyways?). This model is for an exchange I'm involved in, so comments are always welcome.

Well it's near completion. I think I just need to do the gun. And no, that is not a mold line on the head. My camera insists on putting in odd details. If you check the outside photo, you'll see it isn't like that.

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r120/Jaffar_Hasad/Emperors%20Children/Npainttopcrop.jpg

Here are the original pictures since my camera resizing kills the quality:

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r120/Ja...n/Npainttop.jpg

And since I think my light bulbs might make the colors change a bit, I have a few outside shots as well. They seem to be better at showing off the model as a whole, and not the tiny details which are impossible to spot without amazing eyesight.

I would also like to point out that this is my first base ever. The most I have done before is paint gray with black lines, so it was a huge step up from my previous work. I hope my exchange partner enjoys it.

I would paint High Gloss Finish onto the green areas to make it look more like slime. Vallejo has a paint-on finish, and I think GW has one too. Fantastic model otherwise.

Have plans to make a squad of them?

Alpha

Sadly no. Once I finish the gun, I'm sending it off to a guy in California. It's for a mini-exchange program.

I think I could just throw some varnish on the green. It will be quick, and I wouldn't need to spend money on new paints.

i love that helmet with the head inside! must have taken a while to hollow out

Indeed. At least two hours. First you need to cut the eye section out (which was a bionic in this case, which I threw onto a kroot), then pinvise and hack it out and make it as hollow as possible. Then you need to cut off the neck nub and start drilling and hacking through there. Then you need to take a catachan head, which are smaller than other IG heads, and cut it to fit.

And thank you synapse for taking an interest in my thread. Your truescale marines have been an inspiration to me, and I've been working on my own PH TS project. I have a DA near completion, and the starts of an EC, but I must have thrown my terminator arms out on accident ;)

And thanks to anyone who took an interest in this thread. It was a little unnerving when I have 3 posts in a row, 2 of which were picture updates, with no other responses.
