Possible Alpha Legion Cultists?

Just had a crazy thought while perusing an Alpha Legions Forum. What if you counted lesser daemons as cultists? Now, I grant you that the stats are a little high for "normal" humans, but it could be interpreted as crazed fanatics who are hopped up on the power of Chaos, or something.

As far as the summoning aspect goes, it could be explained that the cultists were simply infiltrating/ lying in wait until a signal was given for them to pop out of hiding and attack.

I know it's not the same thing as the former Alpha Legion rules, but I think that it has some possible merit. After all, at this stage of the game, it's more a matter of figuring out how best to use the new Codex to represent what you want your army to be.

Thoughts?

Yeah, this was suggested as a way to use cultists in an Alpha Legion army built using C:CSM. It actually works quite well, I think.

Personally, I use C:SM, and count my Cultists as Scouts (which works extremely well, I find...especially given the Alpha Legion's penchant for modifying normal humans with limited gene manipulation and implants). Also, the Traits work great for creating an Alpha Legion-style infiltrating force. And since the Alpha Legion shies away from Chaos....

So, either/or!

I will have to say that I am planning on running my AL force (still working on background) with loyalist rules..... probably with "counts as Inquisitor troops" for cultists. I am still trying to wrap my head around the Legion book... it turns my perception of the AL upside down but it was still cool as heck.

I have tried both variants and although the Inquisition route has some advantages (Cultists are supposed to be highly trained, like Stormtroopers and the Inquisitor allows having a real Cult Leader and not just a unit champion), I went with the Daemon route (suicide troopers lurking in the shadows until their masters turn up.)

Having to say that in most of my current games, winning a 1.500 points Mighty Empires rules campaign (with my capital named Alphaville, o.k. bad pun), I didn't field any cultists and simply trusted in 50 odd bodies in power armour to scare the bejezus out of the enemy.

I'd say this would work well... I mean, if anything they could be normal civilians in hiding, but knowing how Alpha Legion is capable of brainwashing in mass quantities, these seemingly normal people could suddenly spring out with uncontrolled violence. It makes sense and it's better then just giving up on your army in general.
Unfortunately, I would say that the best way to represent Alpha Legion is with the loyal marine rules as they would never be marked by chaos, and would generally have nothing demonic due to the fact that they do not reside in the Eye of Terror or worship Chaos. Furthermore, they tend to impersonate loyal Astartes forces so as to confuse defenders, so they probably look pretty similar, and operating in Imperial Space as they do, one would think that they have managed to capture some loyal marine vehicles. I am actually considering on doing this myself, depending on if I like the new marine codex or not.
