Is there a justifiable reason for an SOB to wear glasses?

Okay, here's the deal. I got a female figure to use in a headswap with a battle sister. However I ordered it online so I didn't realize that it was wearing glasses. By my logic, a Sister with poor vision would have her eyes augmented in some other way or be disqualified from the orders militant entirely. Likewise, a battle sister would just put her helmet on when it got sunny out so she wouldn't need sunglasses either.

The shades this figure is wearing are really screwing up my scene but it's a nice head otherwise. Could anyone here think of a good fluff reason for Sister Elissa to be wearing glasses or do I have to risk screwing up the head by chopping the glasses off?

Here's a pic of the figure. It's the one on the right. Which is a girl. In case you didn't already guess.

By gum thoughs are some badly sculpted models......

Anywho, it will look veeeeerrry weird having her wearign glasses. In fact very few models have them full stop I think. If you really like the head swap just do it, but carve those eyes off and sculpt something else for the love of terra. Man those minis are bad........eeeeuughgh! ;)

Dude, is it really that bad?

It's not really that bad, though you may not want to take my word for it, I still like the old "Gimme-a-hug" carnifex model. :P

As to your dillema, one word: Psyocculum. Semi-useless piece of wargear, but it makes your model worrk.

"Gimme-a-hug" carnifex? You mean those huge hulking Tyranids that can tear a Space Marines head of with their claws, and have a shell as tough as the armour of a Land raider?

And they're huggable? :D :) :) B).

But no, I think it would be an interesting head swap, but either be prepared to be asked for a very good backstory if you need one, or as some one else has said, add to them to make them into some form of tech-goggles.

Although I don't actually have a problem with the concept myself, I could actually imagine some of the older inquisitors wearing such items, and some preachers who can't afford augmentations. I think I've even seen some art work with some people of the Inquisition with these items, might have been in the 3rd edition rules, but don't quote me on that. :D

Thinking of where I've seen such a thing, remember the science teacher from the movie Starship Troopers? Well, even though those were technically goggles, maybe the sister has sensitive eyes from a burn or something she sufferd from an alien weapon?

Back on topic, if you're putting it on a Seraphim, they'd look perfect on a Sister with Twin hand flamers, "the better to watch the heretics burn for their crimes" or something like that.

Mate, leave the glasses and do the headswap. The glasses would look pretty cool on a sister and I bet there aren't many people out there who have got a battle sister with sunnies.

A bit of variety is a good thing, even in a SoB army.

Come to think of it, eyeshields are perfectly viable for a sister. In the modern day, troops in Iraq are required to wear ballistic eyewear to protect their peepers from tiny bits of shrapnel. None of them really like to wear them (unless they get the designer ones). But an SOB has the same eyes that a US Marine has.

I'm just not sure if bitchin' shades fits in with their whole persona.

I'd leave 'em, and just make sure the Sister that got that head stuck on her PA was toting a flamer/heavy flamer. I can just imagine her grinning righteously as the melting heretics are reflected in the polished surface of her shades!
