Wolfbiter
Greetings, all, After reading "Legion" by Dan Abnett, I thought it might be quite cool to add a squad of Chosen to my Alpha Legion army done in the colors of Omegon's Effrit Stealth Squad. Unfortunately, the book doesn't include a lot of detail about how much Effrit Squad's colors differ from the regular Alpha Legion scheme, except that Omegon's armor is "nearly black." What would people suggest as a dark scheme that would show extra stealthiness, yet still fit in with the overall dark blue-purple/silver scheme of the post-Heresy Alphas? My first attempt was to make the main armor surfaces black, then use Alpha Legion blue/purple for the trim: Suggestions? Muzza
I think black armour is a must as it is the only reference to their squad colours we have. Maybe then do just one shoulder guard in a different colour that links them with the rest of the legion. Eetion
It could be that it was just Omegons armour that was black. I would have anticipated them being the same as regular legionaries. Possibility that the Legion have the preheresy symbol while the stealth squad use the Hydra. But if you really want to mark them out, id have black and then have maybe a shoulder pad retain legion symbol and colour. Senseilord Ashahara
I like the colour scheme. Interpret what was written however you like. I was thinking that rather than using a blue wash on my marines, I'd use a black one to darken up the armour further. Lion in the Stars
I'd try a much darker metallic, either Testor's Gunmetal, or black highlighted with Tin Bitz. Use a black ink wash to darken your basic legion colors down, but use lots of very thin washes so that you can really control the darkness better. also, go buy a bottle of Future floor finish and mix that into your ink wash, along with water, as that will really help control the bathtub-ring problem you can get with ink washes.
