Modelling: Converting a bolter into a plasmagun

It's dead easy... I cut out the barrel and front of the bolter, as well as the handle, sight and mag. The barrel is put where the mag was as a plasma mag. I also cut the bolt. The slit is still there but ah well.

 

Then cut the front of the plasma pistol , file it flat and it goes in front of the bolter.

Cut out the hand together with the mags and wee assembly. Flatten this area under the bolter and glue. Tada.

 

 

I did that because I have loads of spare plasma pistols and bolter, but not a single plasma gun. Dunno what the new tactical squads come in so for all I know it may be a pretty silly thing to do now but for those like me who have spares and little money for special weapons, it's a cool little mod. Most likely been thought before, who knows.

EDIT: with this the grip is slightly forward so you may need your marine to hold it with one hand only. And for IGs, you just cut the handle and glue it on their hands.

Sweet! I wonder If this could be applied in the same way x2 if you're trying to do a Plasma Cannon o.o

I doubt it would, the PC is a real big and quite complex weapon... dunno. Try it!

If you don't get a better camera before I get some loyalist marine parts, I'm totally scooping this :rolleyes:

 

(P.S.: I just found the parts in a box of Devastators... now that I have a good look at them, I'd probably keep the ridge parts of the plasma pistol, cut it down like a L shape...)

Yeah, I doubt it too, but looking at my Long Fang's Plasma cannon, I kinda see a way ... I might be able to pull it of, but I'd havce to use greenstuff and plastic ... hm, hm. A plasmagun hiwevere, shoukd be easier to work with.

Not for a plasma cannon, but i guess if your opponents kind enough it could be used to make a twinlinked plasma gun :D

I had to make a plasma gunthis way for my guys, damn lousy GW only providing me with a melta gun. Looks good though with the plasma pistol barrel and the 'core' part placed carefully into a place cut from the bolt ejector bit thing after i cut it out. Great guide even if a little bit late for me lol.
