CommissarStone Posted April 10, 2008 Share Posted April 10, 2008 I suspect they switched to a bright green when the Dark Angels switched from black so that they weren't ironically darker than the Dark Angels. B) I like that line of thought... Unfortunately, IIRC, the DA color change came from the repackaging of the basic Citadel Paint Set when the paints were marketed as applying to the main four Space Marine chapters (namely, SWs, BAs, UMs, and DAs). Unfortunately, since the paint set had black, grey, red, green, yellow, white, and blue (there may have been one or two other colors), and black and white were intended as shading colors (as opposed to base colors), they had to swap the DAs for the Salamanders (nobody knew who the Salamanders were, they weren't in the RT 2 page lineup). Therefore, the DAs went from black to green, with a later fluff revision to justify the color change (which still just doesn't feel right, but if they'd stayed black we'd have way too many sets of black power armor running about - BTs, RGs, DAs, IHs, BDs... after a while there'd be no reason to buy any other color!). OT, the models look great. I would have preferred to see the DA robes less golden and more off-white (to contrast with the armor color more), but it's still an awesome looking model. Very, very cool. Hard to pick out a favorite, but if pressed I would say either the Ultramarine or the Salamander. I'd lean more towards the Salamander because I love the Alpha Legion pads. Especially when he's using it in store with movie marine rules ^^. Also as he replied earlier, having seen it in person, the BA really is red :P. Now get to work on the Scourge! Which reminds me, for the scourge how are you doing the Black Legion? During the Luna Wolves time or the Sons of Horus? Edit: Btw, I forgot to mention! Only thing I would suggest, just to keep the feel right is in the case of the Iron Warrior - It would be really fitting to give him a reaper autocannon or lascannon maybe, just sort of plants his feet and tries to take out anything in the vicinity. Other than that, I look forward to seeing the project as it comes along. Did you get my suggestion for the bases on the Great Crusade also?
