Hello again. Thought I'd start a thread in WIP to post my bits. Got some paints coming in the post so some of these might start to get painted soon!

Dready is finished, I think.

(Minstrels are to celebrate finishing my degree project - yay)

Here's my next project - an assault squad with a twist. The true 'angels of death'!

http://lh5.google.com/adamhstevens/R_oPtZBdU4I/AAAAAAAAA2Y/8cXIHpnL-J4/s800/DSC00098.JPG.jpg

And the chaplain who's going to lead them (didn't have enough wings for him)

Now my whole force is constructed (well, there's some stuff in the post) I'm going to concentrate on bases. Experimenting with different materials etc. I think the assault squad will have to be on Termie bases otherwise they'll fall over!

Cheers folks. Just got back into the hobby after a ~6 year sabbatical so it's taken me a while to get back into sculpting properly.

I'm pretty pleased with the dreadnought. Start off as a concept sketch and it's come out pretty much exactly how I want. Not too happy with the pose, but those Dread knees look like a bitch to re-pose so I did what I could. Here's the sketch (along with some notes of bits stolen from other BT B&Cers :)). Basically I really hate the designs of the FW and GW venerable dreads , but like the idea of the exposed helmet and I loved what Titan136 did with his dread so I thought i'd copy him and add a little of my own flavour. Also pleased that it looks just as nasty without the sword and shield as I reposed the 'fingers' so they can actually grip (read CRUSH) things :(

I was going to use a sword and shield from some Warmachine Warjacks, but the privateer site decided not to accept my credit card so instead I thought I'd challenge myself and sculpt them.

The wings were an ebay find, there's 3 different sets (1 lonesome, 2 pairs of pairs). I think they must be from some fantasy minis, but I bought them as is so I don't know, sorry.

The green stuffing is half based on this wonderful B&C tutorial and half on just trying to follow the patterns on the wings themselves. It's fairly time consuming, doing a row each time on five wings. I'm wasting loads of green stuff making too large a batch ;)

I've decided not to start painting until I've got all my models assembled. That could be a while, since I've got to build bases for them all as well. However, I was itching to get some paint down so I made a start on a few bases. Bought some cheap acrylics (no sense wasting primer and good paint on them!) and got to work:

Not immediately visible but I gave them a few washes of bestial brown to give a bit of a muddy effect. C&C?

Hello again folks. Been beavering away, currently on about the 5th layer of feathers on those wings. Thought i'd put a pic up to show the extent of what I have built but not painted... It's not looking good, folks

Got a few bits to finish off my army: namely some cenobytes. I liked the guy who used Empire Warrior Priests as something a bit more religious than techy, but they didn't quite look 40k enough to me. I've been thinking about these three guys with a few conversions...

Argh!

I started trying to pose my assault squad last night. Came across a slight problem... I think they look crap <_< The wings just don't seem to really 'work'. Pretty annoyed that I've spent so much time on them but never thought to see what they'd actually look like. Anyhow, I took a couple of photos (not easy as these guys will NOT stand up without pinning), so what do you reckon?

I think your army is coming along nicely. :P

One thing to consider:

Since these guys are the infamous BT cc army of doom the winged assault squad is going to play havoc against itself when in base to base during hth. The wings will go way beyond thier respective bases. So my suggestion is to have them modeled at varying heights on the bases. That way you can slip them in next to each other with the wings sort of stacked at varying hieghts. This would be an interesting issue versus nids or any other army with larger wings becuase a literal entaglement rule would come into play ;)

Good job and best of luck with your progress. :P

Soooo, I'm currently sitting at my parent's place and have sorted through all my old templar stuff. Unfortunately it turns out I sold pretty much half my army, what a numpty! At least it gives me the chance to do it all again. But better! Mwahaha.

In other news I now also have the tools I need to finish off my stormraven conversion, paints to actually paint stuff, and greenstuff so I can make progress on the next project:

Sigismund! I'll post some WIP pics when I get back, but I have decided to build a bit of a centrepiece and spend a lot of time getting him right. My first attempt at true-scaling, to make him (literally) stand out a bit, and I'm going to sculpt as much of his armour as I can. Anyway, my only comment so far is that compared to the body I've bulked out, the standard marine helmet seems a little small... does anyone else get that?
