very pic heavy update

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I had started Death Guard and World eaters armies before I found the B&C, when I explored the site I discovered truescale and have fallen in love with this concept, I then started my truescale emperors light chapter, my dilema is that I now want to truescale the DG and WE, though I have already put some effort into these armies, WE=10 marines painted and 30 made but not painted, DG= 8 marines finished. My question is should I scrap what I have done and rework these to truescale or stick to original scale and finish what I have started? Here are some photos of what I will be scrapping. Even though I have already put in a lot of work it will give me a chance to change the skin colour as I don't like it on the DG, it works better on my WE.

Scraping these models would be an afront to the gods of chaos! keep it up with the way you got them, if you want to do some truescaling make your lord true scale that way you don't have to change the size of your entire army (as in my head lords would be much bigger) and maybe even his bodyguard if you give him one (as they'd have to be big to guard his massive body lol)

ID ask myself 1 question if i was deciding to truescale somemarines or not.

How many projects and unpainted models do i have sitting around??

Personally i have so much stuff i dont think i could get it all painted in my life time.

If this is all youve got going and dont have any future projects planned etc then it couldnt hurt to truescale some marines. I dont know if i would scrap all of the progress on these models. You should either leave them as is and try them on the next batch or possibly sell them to get some revenue for the truescaling process. Ive been reading the threads for truescaling and the process seems quite costly, parts, green stuff, time. These are all factors that you should weigh together before making that choice.

my 1 cent

Ditto the rust comments - very nice. quick tutorial?

it would be a shame to bust up so many nicely painted minis, even if they would eventually be repainted to the same or better standard, best just to keep going and paint even more!

generally, I think true-scale shouldbe reserved for small armies, or special characters, elite squads, grey knights, etc... especially with the DG, the bloatyness and whatnot would be lost to some degree if TSed.

You know what....try doing some TS work on some other guys (as in the guys assembled and not painted, or not even assembled), and if they turn out sweet I say do it! Its always better to test it out before actually grabbing the beast by the horns, eh? So do some tests or samples, or w/e you want to call them and post em!

Good paintjob on the DG!

Cheers!

Hi all, I have been working on a termie section for my DG army, here are some early picture, lots of putty work to go, still thinking about how I'll do the heads (probably use termie heads reshaped like grey knight heads), Ignore and mould lines as these are vert WIP, all comments welcome.

with the vent thingies on the top of the termies bodys, try and make the plastic soft (using a lighter maybe) and push out the end using a pencil or something so that they look like the vents on typhus, it'd make them look 54% more awesome. very nice work tho, keep it up.

Hey Neigorath he he I thought I'd get that reaction, I want my DG to be repulsive so I thought of the sickest thing I could and sculpted him.

Hey daemonclaw its tamiya quick dry 2 part epoxy putty, non water soluble, very sticky for first 30 min, drys fairly hard in 1 hour, good for detail sculpting, not good for small/shallow gap filling, I have never used GS so can't compare, I also use milliput for larger areas/shapes.

These terminators look top-shelf. Keep up the good work. I like how you've preserved many of the standard details, but limited the Nurglizing to specific areas. They're still recognizable as Marines, which I like a lot. You avoided the "lump of candle wax" look some Nurglites go for.

Please, don't destroy your old DG. Those guys are too well done to be torn down.
