A Bit Kingdom order review...

Recommended Posts

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi,

I bought some stuff recently and was very happy - plenty of communication, decent shipping costs (I'm in the UK) and speedy turn-around. Hopefully this will continue to be the case as it's handy having a site where you can buy a sprue rather than having to buy a complete kit for a couple of pieces or each piece individually.

Just placed an order for a BattleFoam 1520 from BitKingdom(@ 25% off WITH FREE SHIPPING =D ) so should be in my hands at the end of next week.

Nate responded hella fast to emails and went out of his way to allow me to order the case even though his site had said out of stock (he had just ordered some that day and they're due to arrive this Monday.)

Saved me almost $60 vs. buying from BF themselves and every other "retailer" I've talked to that sells BF products were offering 10% off at best PLUS I had to pay shipping. He's currently selling the 1520 for $112 with FREE shipping. Retail is $150 and shipping from BFoam themselves is $25 (:cuss...?)

So as far as customer service and value go, Nate's got my vote.

Thread Necromancy implications aside, I'd like to share my very recent experience with BitKingdom.

As i'm currently attempting to contact Nate to get things resolved, i won't go into too much detail.

But, I placed two orders in the first week of December 2009. After being told by Nate himself they would ship out before Christmas, I am still without the items I paid for a month ago.

I'm getting close to PayPal's 45-day limit for filing a grievance. if I don't hear from him within a few days, i'll have no choice.

Will NOT be ordering from BitKingdom again.

When i spoke with him before, i asked why he doesn't have email notification for shipping. He said, and I quote, "there's just so many orders, man".

Not having email shipping notification is about the WORST way to run an internet shipping business. Period.

+++EDIT+++

Oddly enough, not 5 minutes after posting the above, Nate called me. Here's what he said:

1. Apparently a local customer purchased the bits I had ordered through the website before they could be removed from the storefront and set aside for shipping. This caused Nate to have to scramble for some more devastator boxes to get the bits from.

2. He also said the first order was delayed due to one of the bottles of paint being back ordered.

3. Another issue he ran into was not noting that the two orders were from the same person.

Issue #1 I can deal with, mostly. However, I cannot fathom why Nate wouldn't notify people when things like this happen. Communication is the #1 customer service issue with any internet business. Everyone on this thread has noted how easy Nate is to work with on the phone. It's a shame you have to get that far to get an order taken care of.

Issue #2 i can deal with. But still, a lack of notification has burned me out from every ordering from Bitkingdom again. I order things off the internet because it's easy and hassle-free. I cannot say that about Bitkingdom.

Issue #3 is understandable, but it brings to mind questions of how he's tracking all of his shipments. My imagination conjures up a scene with a big wall full of sticky notes with order information, a big push broom leaning against it, and a big ornate rug on the floor with "sticky notes go here" embroidered around the edges.

TL;DR = I'm done with Bitkingdom. I think he's trying to do it the right way. I think he wants to treat everyone the right way. But my biggest complaint is the glaring lack of communication on Nate's part to quell customer service issues before customers get fed up.

Had to throw my experience with Nate at BitKingdom out there too. To echo what some others have said, he is first class over the phone. He called me when my order had been delayed and let me know about it, apologizing and letting me know what some options were. The prices are fantastic which is what led me to put the order in and the flexibility of the bits I wanted to add to the sets I was ordering.

He obviously does things a little different than the rest of the online businesses and is figuring things out, but for someone like me who was in no hurry to get my stuff (there's always projects with plastic to do if I need to) it was a place I'll definitely order from again. Granted, he probably could use some form of online communication for more efficient feedback to customers. But if I need parts for something that has a deadline, I realize that you usually pay for that with higher prices. What's the saying? Fast, quality, or cheap, you get to pick 2? It's true a lot of the time.

Sorry for snipping there I just want to add that I won't use Bitkingdom ever again either. I paid for a Fortress of Redemption in November, and I still haven't seen it.

The service is flaky at best. He forgets about your orders, doesn't ship them for days on end when he DOES have the product, despite repeated phone calls, emails and chats. He hardly HARDLY ever actually replies by email. The best way you get a conversation with him that you can have a record of is thorugh GMail chat.

When I did get a Fortress from my wife for Christmas, I emailed him AND chatted in GMail (within two days of Christmas) with him about swapping my order to a Strongpoint. He said he would have no problem getting the strongpoint in. He still hasn't got the strongpoint, claims to have the individual pieces to make up the strongpoint (ie two bastions and three defense lines) but STILL hasn't shipped. Comes up with lame excuses like the UPS guy didn't show up or that he doesn't have the right box.

This isn't the first order he's messed up on or taken forever to ship. Another order I placed with him for three Valkyries is questionable also. The tracking number he gave me for USPS doesn't show in their system. And there's been others before. It's the last time I'm buying anything from him. IF I ever get the damn stuff.

If anyone does want to risk ordering stuff from him, use your visa when paying through Paypal. There's no 45 day limit and you can do the claim right with your credit card vendor.

Wish I had seen this thread earlier... I e-mailed with interest in purchasing some items and found the owner very responsive and friendly. Placed an order a couple of weeks ago for a realm of battleboard and some other pieces and can't get confirmation that they even received the paypal payment. Have sent two e-mails am going to call this morning and if I can't get resolution today will just try and cancel the order.

hey guys!

i was wandering if any of you has any recent experience purchasing from bitkingdom?? i saw the older post from 2009, which wasnt that great for em. im about to order from em but i am wandering if i MAY not see my order?

thanks in advance guys! simon

I recently ordered with them, the prices are good so I figured I would give it a try, I get my package tomorrow so I'll see how everything is and give a report back, But I had to email him like twice a week and it still took him a month and a half to ship my order.
I had a friend that ordered to s of stuff off his site... Took him a couple months to finally recieve it and he wasn't happy with the delay... Though BK sent him freebies for his troubles it still doesn't make up for bad business practice... I say no go on BitKingdom!!!!!!
I live in Omaha where they are based and stopped past the address they list on their website, but they aren't there anymore.

Not sure how much faith I would put in their website info at all.

Give Nate a call and ask him where the location is...IIRC, he said it's in the same building, but in a different bay. But I haven't been by in a while due to personal issues and a sucking void where my bank account used to be.

If you've got questions about what his stock situation is like, give him a call or an email and ask if he's got in stock.
