Tfcdogbert
I have just gotten myself to get around to writing the fluff for my chaos army, the Iron Wraiths. Liber Astartes Link And i was going to cast around here more directly for a little fluff help to do with the reasons for the fall from grace. The idea i have bouncing around in my head is to do with the Alpha legion and the Night lords, i vaguely recall a piece of fluff on the alpha legion i read a while back about i think the Swords of the Emperor, where they infiltrated them slowly through the slums of their recruitment world, can anyone tell me where this came from? As id like to reread it to get a feel for how it was done and i cant remember the fine details. The main reason for their fall was their original combat doctrine, that of the doctrine of heavy firepower and established gunlines, they come in to conflict with the Night Lords, their tactics of hitting at vital points is crippling the Iron sheilds (pre fall name), their static way of warfare is not working well, so the chapter master, Methusaleh Kain studies the night lords and decides to imitate them, calling in his reserve assault marines he packs up the legions heavy firepower onto the battle barge and tries to beat the night lords at their own game. This is when the Alpha legions infiltration becomes clear, his chapter start to revel in close combat and so does he, whispers in his ear from the warp appeal to his martial pride, (Khorne, but not in the usual Bezerking kill everything way), so theres a large brawl going on, small platoon actions, trying to hit even smaller and more well concealed supply points. At this point, the second in command of the chapter had appealed for outside help, and reinforcements start to fall on the planet from the imperial guard and another undecided chapter, the Alpha legion infiltratees start by attacking the imperial guard, leading them to fire on all marines, and so Methusaleh starts to concentrate on the landing guard, and not on the Night Lords, who seeing the incoming imperials start to attack them to egg on his fall so to speak, and together they set about the guard for the greater glory of chaos. What do people think of this as a rough outline? I thought id get more direct chaos help here than in Liber in terms of fluff? Any help on where to find that piece on the Emperors sword or anything similar would be much appreciated, along with suggestions on how this looks. Well I never saw Night Lords and Alpha legion as being the most devoted to chaos although the converty stuff fits in with AL fluff and the story seems to make sense although my head hurts a bit... I personally would go into more detail and then it would all depend on how you pulled if off. Looks like a good start anyway :> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/135535-the-iron-wraiths/#findComment-1561601 Share on other sites
Gideon Bane
I'd say Night Lords were almost the least devoted to it. Granted they like to kill and slaughter as much as any traitors do (probably more than most any but the World Eaters) but they aren't that devout about their methods as long as mayhem and terror are sown. x_beowolf_x1
yes either night lords or iron warriors are the least devoted. But yea story is good, the people in the other thread seem to have some very good ideas too.
