smelly_squig
today is my birthday ;) (19) and my mum gave me a camera so i thought i would write a tutorial to test how my camera works if you want any more pictures just ask and i will try to get them these are designed to be used in my dark mechanicus army which i am planning to start with you will need 1. a necron head 2. a paper clip 3. a small drill 4. a scalpel(or similar cutting tool) 5. a base to put it on http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0020.jpg grab the necron head and cut the chin off http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/untitled.jpg you may notice the bits where it was attached to the sprue after this picture was taken i removed them http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0028.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0027.jpg then drill a hole on the bottom behind the top lip(the picture should explain a bit better) http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0029.jpg then get the paper clip and bend it strait now glue the head onto it http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0031.jpg and cut the paper clip so it is a little bit bigger than what you want then bend the end to a right angle http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0032.jpg then drill a hole in the base then push the paper clip in the hole and glue it http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0033.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0034.jpg now you just need to paint it http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0019.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0016.jpg (i still need to paint the paper clips black in these pictures but you get the idea) to paint them: black undercoat codex grey higlighted with fortress grey for the front metal bit then bleached bone with a little highlight of white for the back of the skull then the eyes are ultramarines blue highlighted with ice blue the necron destroyer heads work too http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0022.jpg i am using them to represent the more techy servo skulls and a scale picture http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/smelly_squig/DSCN0025.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/135627-modelling-simple-servo-skulls/ Share on other sites

Amon-Chakay
At my local store there are two necron players, i'll ask them for some heads, and if you don't mind i'll use your tutorial. i love it! ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/135627-modelling-simple-servo-skulls/#findComment-1562819 Share on other sites
smelly_squig
the first head i did it on came from a guy at my local club who was giving away some spare bits he didnt want(mainly orks and necrons) i have about 17 heads which i got from bitzbox which if they had any left in stock(i bought them :nuke: ) i would advise people to use that as they where really good the reason i wanted them to be so simple was because i think my troops will be complicated and when i get the bits i have ordered from forgeworld and gamesworkshop(which i ordered long before i did the bitzbox order) i may do a tutorial on them too if anyone wants to steal my ideas then please steal away Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/135627-modelling-simple-servo-skulls/#findComment-1562867 Share on other sites

The Emperor's Chosen
Yes, all the necron kits come with exactly the number of parts you'll need (heads, arms, etc) for the models. smelly_squig
if you dont have access to necron heads you can do it with normal skulls the very first ones i did was made from normal skulls i cut the chins off them just like in these then i started adding little techy bits to them but i found it really hard to add the detail i put wire into the eyes to look like cameras i cut the back half off the skulls and added auspex scanner screen to it i also tried some with chaos warrior helmets but i couldnt find any way to make them look like chaos servo skulls and less like floating helmets i gave up that idea because i wanted to use the helmets for my mechanicus troops and i thought it would look silly but i since then have changed the heads on my mechanicus which i will post pictures of when forgeworld hurry up and send my order and when i have finished all my assignments edit:sorry it posted before i was finished typing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/135627-modelling-simple-servo-skulls/#findComment-1567676 Share on other sites
