Daemon Prince

Recommended Posts

Comes vanilla - one head, backpack, sword. No wings, etc. in the set.

There's also a separate Nurgle DP they released a while back, but it's also 'come as you are', no extra options.

Can convert them of course, and some folks convert Inquisitor figs or other similar-scale figs.

Plastic dragon wings- you can pretty much just glue them on where the "backpack vents" go, although pinning and a little GS to fill the (almost non existent) gaps is a good idea. Apparently the model was made with these wings in mind; why they don't sell them with it is beyond me, because more than half the DP's I've seen have this (or a similar) conversion.

BTW, here's my DP; he's go Skylias right arm, some bits bin dragon tail, and the head from a Chronopia Soul Flayer. The dragon wings are the old metal ones; the new plastic are a bit bigger.

Things you can do with the plastic Balrog, the Defiler, the metal Chaos Spawn, and the Daemon Prince. :P

It's dirt easy.

1. Acquire Balrog wings and whip hand (or the sword hand, which would work just as well).

2. Acquire metal Chaos Spawn.

3. Build Daemon Prince, leaving off the little mutie hand, the sword hand, and the exhausts for what would have been a backpack if he were still a Chaos Marine. Pick a Defiler face; the two that fit best are the horned knight and the ninja mask ones, the devil face one's horns conflict with the DP's. Affix mask over face, glue in place. You may have to resort to some clipping from the neck socket where the DP's head goes because the masks are a little large and might give some trouble. I ended up hacking off most of the neck and fitting the head higher on the torso, trying to give it more of a looming look as opposed to a hunchbacked one; didn't quite work out, but better than if I'd left it alone.

4. Clip the talons from the Chaos Spawn's little stabby tentacles and fit them along the rim of the DP's left arm, the one with the shield-thing that looks like it might have been a power claw at one point. Hold them in place with some green stuff, then glue down. Let set for a good hour or two; instant claws. I only used four of them, but you could theoretically fit a thumb claw on there if you really wanted to go through the effort of digging it a socket

5. Green stuff the hell out of the sockets where the exhausts would have fit and affix the Balrog wings, which you may have to trim down to fit. I recommend them one at a time because even though they're plastic, they're heavy and gravity won't give you any slack. Super-glue them in place and wait for it to harden to hold the wings up; while it dries, I propped mine up against the wall to hold the wings in position.

6. Attach Balrog whip hand into the place where the sword hand would have gone. If you're a green stuff sifu, you might be able to generate a fifth finger for that hand, but I'm not so I didn't. You'll probably need a little green stuff to fill in around the wrist where it meets the metal, and then glue it down.

7. Once all the glue is dry and the green stuff has set, plant him on a base and primer him. Continue as per standard procedure from there. I recommend the 60mm Dreadnought base as opposed to the 40mm Terminator one, because he looks like he's trying to skateboard on the 40mm, he gets so big.

A word of warning: once this guy is built, it's going to be a real joy figuring out how to transport him. I ended up getting a Sabol Division case and the 14" x 4" double-wide foam tray for the purpose of carrying this guy from place to place without crushing him and breaking his wings off at the sockets.

You can use pegasus wings (Warhammer range), but with hindsight, they are a little small - The Zeench Greater Daemon wings would be a better fit I think.

This also shows the addition of the Inquisitor Scale Space Marine Helmet.

Oh.

And some really bad GS work

:P

Cheers

There are literally TONNES of Daemon Prince conversions roaming the net, from scratchbuild, bionical madness to GS-covered GW-mini's. I once saw a nice blend of the Dragon Ogre Shaggoth and a Dreadnought on Deathguard.org, I believe, now THAT was a nice Daemon Prince. Oozed corruption like a drooling whatnot. Just let your imagination run wild and before you know it you have put together something chaosy...
