Holy Emperor...A flying Terminator!

After a while of modelling "Legal" playable squads I got a bit bored and went back to what I enjoy most, converted over the top(a little) models that in a game I don't think anyone would agree to play them.

So I had some fun and made this guy out of spare parts. After mulling it over for the past few months about equiping Termies with Jump-packs I could never see it as the standard JP are way to small, however doubling its size makes it more "meaty looking" to be able to carry a Terminator. So will probably do a full squad to go along side him consisting of L-claws and T-hammers.

Wow...cheers guys, I didnt think anyone would like it this much.

@Grand Master Raziel Secundus, I never thought of wysiwyg battles,,oooohh thats going to be sweet.

@wiplash & Brother Aries Balian, yeah gonna make it into a squad, but have them all looking like VET's, and make some custom weapons all CC ones. I'm thinking of a squad of 5 plus the IC.

Currently working on the 2nd model. so I thought at the same time I would make a "how to do it pic guide".

Remove bottom section from JP one, and stick top section on.

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC01878.jpg

From JP two, remove lower and upper exhaust sections, and stick together.

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC01879.jpg

So you have somthing like this.

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC01880.jpg

Stick lower JP to upper JP. Turning lower JP upside down.

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC01881.jpg

Take the jet intakes from left overs and blend in to top of JP.

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC01883.jpg

Take the bottom part left over from the 1st pic, and stick at the bottom.

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC01882.jpg

And green stuff any details you like.

And finished Terminator.

This'd make a great explaination for deep striking for a chapter that doesn't use teleporters.

Very nice work! :)

oooh this idea is now STOLEN! i'll count them as drop podding probs

Again thanks for the comments, I truly wasnt expecting it to "take off" as Grand master R says(pun intended).

@wiplash, yup thats one dead heretic crushed under there, as well as a skeletol hand and skull, and some alien mushrooms the kind that make you feel all funny. :D

@ImperialTemplari, the "Eberious jump pack" you say?. has a nice ring to it, cheers.

@Beornling 3.1415, funny you should mention a Dread. As thats my next JP project after this one. Risky I know, and would have to make the Dread so much less bulky. Still trying to find decent jets for it. The jet sections of some Tau models would fit with some Imperium mods to it would work, could always use as you say the boosters from the LS as the exhausts.

So keep your eyes out forthat one.

Had a look at the Dread idea, I don't think its really going to work. ;) . But I'll still keep my eye open for good parts to use.

Back to current project. The 2nd Vet Termie, its quite hard to get a decent pose with L_claws at the best of times. But getting them to look right on this guy was a wee bit of a pain, got there in the end and pleased with the outcome.

Still some greenstuff areas to clean up and cracks to fill in, some of which will dissapear with a good paint job.

The GSt with holes in is chainmail,

A dead Chaos Termie, no match for the might of the Imperium.

"Sure, you can jump pack your terminators, but I'm jump packing my vindicator :tu: "

Those look quite fun, although I would hate to see one fall over, and be stuck on the floor like a knight in full armour, being slowly prodded to death by grots :(

nice pose and of course a standard possessed terminator would never be able to stand up to that of a superior swooping termie!

i know this is off topic to what you guys are talking about and no offense to the models, but is it me or were the molds for the BT upgrade sprue pretty shody? all of the pics i see they seem to merge with the plastic!

Thanks all.

@wiplash. I think most of the BT icons moulds are ok, I suppose it depends if you get a bodged batch or not. From the pics yes they look as if they just "melt" into the armour. Once painted you'll never see it.
