titan136
Hey guys, I've managed to finish 1700 points of Iron Snakes in the last two and a half months. I gotta say these guys were a pleasure to paint as the scheme was simple enough that I could paint 10 or 20 at a time without getting too bored. I'm probably going to add a dreadnought or two and a chaplain to bring the army up to 2000 as well as add static grass to the bases once I get the dead wintery kind, but here's what they look like right now: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_1500_b.jpg And some individual unit closeup shots http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Command.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Assault.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Scouts1.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Scouts2.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Tactical_1.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Tactical_2.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Tactical_3.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Devastators_1.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j232/ultramarines/Iron%20Snakes/IS_Army_Devastators_2.jpg

ShinyRhino
Spectacular work. A snappy /salute to you for the pure infantry force, as well. Go groundpounders, GO! Woo! Love the thunder hammer glow, and the reheaded Macragge sergeant.

Widowmaker
Excellent work Titan 136 - Obviously your skills don't cover only painting black to an incredibly high standard :D Out of interest, how did you do the crested helmets? Is it scratch built? Or did you use a WHFB Slaneesh Lord or Dire Avenger hemet? Cheers Widowmaker
Dorns Padawan
Woah! A lot of TLC has obviously gone into them! They look super! Great stuff!!! :D
titan136
Thanks for the comments guys! I don't know what else to say other than those look fantastic. I particularly like the work done on the scouts. I'm planning a couple more scout squads for the army. The next ones will be BP+CCW for sure. Probably another set of 5 snipers as well. Good job Titan Amazing army, and only 2-3 months?! I must say this is probably the fastest I've ever painted. an equivalently sized Ultramarine army I had before took about a year :P Out of interest, how did you do the crested helmets? Is it scratch built? Or did you use a WHFB Slaneesh Lord or Dire Avenger hemet? They' done with the slaneesh lord helm crests. whats the army list? Without getting into too much detail: --------------------------------------------------- 1700 Iron Snakes Cleans and Puritfy 1 Librarian (heavily suped up) 5 command squad (2 flamers) 10 Scouts (Powerfist + heavy bolter) 5 Scouts (Snipers) 10 Tacticals (2 plasmaguns) 10 Tacticals (2 plasmaguns) 10 Tacticals (2 plasmaguns) 5 Assault Marines (thunder hammer) 10 Devastators (4 missile launchers) 10 Devastators (4 missile launchers)

DGC
That is totally awesome :) You said it only took 2 -3 months to paint - I have no idea how you managed that without truck loads of caffeine and no sleep. My army (2000pts ish) has taken the best part of 2 years. I tip my hat to you, this is the best 'fastest' army I have seen in a long time. Looking forward to the vehicles when they arrive Catcha - DGC
Random Guy
I thought Iron Snakes didn't take scouts.
Chronowraith
I thought Iron Snakes didn't take scouts. That's the only thing that bothers me about the army. Iron Snakes don't bring their neophytes to battle with them. Other than that one minor quibble... the army looks fantastic! I'm going to be working on my Iron Snakes later this year and had beendebating over greyscale gunmetal or metallic gunmetal. I think I rather like the metallic. Deathwolf
Your army looks great, and you got it done lightning quick, cheers to that. I've been inspired to paint up an Iron Snakes squad at least (do snakes and wolves get along?) and wonder what scheme you used. Looks like a boltgun metal drybrush but i can't tell. Also in relation to the last post, if anymore has any ideas about the NMM gunmetal, they would be appreciated.
vanimal
love the clean paint job makes the whole army look great as a whole aswell as the individual models. A good all round balanced force and looks great, you should be real proud mate
Alpha PTP
I really wish you would do more of your Black Templars. I think they have a lot more character than your Iron Snakes army. There is nothing that makes them stand out, nothing that gives them true character like your previous models. Nice paint job, they just lack character. the jimster
i dnt suppose i could have the recipe for the armour colour its just im gonna be painting my army soon and i have settled on a dark gunmetal colour only i dnt kno how to go about it
riddic
very nice, just what we have come to expect. Can I ask what made you choose a dark grey base? especially on the scouts it seems to swallow the model. It might just be my preference, but I would have suggest a more contrasting base. Still fan-freaking-tastic!!!! can't wait to see a dread.

JetfireUK
That lot only took you 2-3 months? In that time I'm lucky to paint 3 miniatures! I'm very impressed with the quality of your miniatures - I wish I could match that standard and speed.
