tybee154
I have been reading my friends copy of Eisenhorn and my Space Marines are about to get an overhaul. Most were unpainted to begin with, so this is an easy army switch. Im going to use the Space Marine codex, with an allied Ordo Malleus Inquistor Lord. They aren't Ordo Malleus though. I know their has to be more than just the five ordos that I've heard of. The way I see it, the Imperium is superstitious at best, and would probably create a new branch of the Inquistion for every new threat. Well, these guys combat the threat of too much, or the wrong, knowledge. Of all the things that the Imperium does, its control over what its people know is probably their largest function. Thus the Ordo Librus was born. My army is their chapter militant. Without further ado, here is a test mini. He is a veteran sergeant. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj15/tybee154/Ordo/IMG_0043.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj15/tybee154/Ordo/IMG_0044.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj15/tybee154/Ordo/IMG_0045.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj15/tybee154/Ordo/IMG_0046.jpg Here's a closeup of the chapter seal. I know its on the wrong side, but he has a Crux Terminatus on the other side, so I thought that he would have just removed his squad markings instead of his chapter markings. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj15/tybee154/Ordo/IMG_0047.jpg I hope I didn't step too far out with the fluff. C and C please, both on fluff and the mini. Btw, this is a tremendous step up over my last minis. ;)
Cl4d
Your colors need more layers because we still see through them.

Solid Zaku
Use Foundation paints. Trust me, they work a lot more than what you're doing right now. Inks would also be nice. And if I may suggest, get rid of mold lines, they're built that way in the molding process, but that's not how they're supposed to look. A few passes with a file and an exacto blade and you'll be good.
Kevlarshark
You have some nice touches in there. I like the reflections in the helmet lenses and the stipes (kill markings?) on the Axe. You have kept your paint neat, but it is a little blotchy, try thinning it down and using two thin coats or like Solid Zaku said the foundation paints will give an excellent coat in one go. Dont forget you can paint using inks or paint thinnned to the consistancy of ink (useful for detail like the scroll work) as this can give a much finer line. Id be tempted to use some watered down brown and black (flesh wash/black ink mix 1:1 ink to 2 parts water) on the chest eagle and the back banner to give a bit of depth and shading. Kuchinawa
I think what's killing you the most is the red, yellow, and gore. As others said, foundation paints rock for this kinda stuff. I'd do the same with the yellow, nice even lines use small brush strokes not one big one to get it in one go. And the gore seems like an after thought. This is one thing that bugs me the most, (Not even flash, I know shocking right?) if you want ot have the axe have gore then take a small drybrush and from he edge, brush it on. It's tricky but do-able. Thats my two cents
