iron warriors question

Recommended Posts

from what ive heard and read online, the iron warriors no longer have the ability to take certain units, like the basilisk. my question is, if i were to seriously want to start an IW army (being that im still undecided about armies and about 8 months away from even being able to paint a single model) is there any units that are available to an iron warriors army to replace the basilisk and those sorts of units?

The only remaining ordnance to the IW is the same as all the other chaos factions as already mentioned by Brother Nihm, we now are more of a medium ranged force.

The baslisk really didn't belong in any of the small skimishes as such weapons are mainted by the 1st grand company and brought out only when needed.

right i agree. sadly the IW have lost their appeal to me because they are now like every other chaos legion. no longer anything special about them :P

Ah, but we are the ONLY Legion or Chapter in the game to have hazard stripes! What's not to like  ?

isnt that just plain evil??? i mean, aside from the fact that its IW and thats the point... but isnt that "unsportsmanlike?" (though, i must be pretty evil, cuz id do it)

Oh, and the point of Apocalypse is to be cheesy, so why not?

Basilisks in an Apocalypse army are perfectly appropriate. I'm of the opinion that that's where long range artillery guns belong anyway (including for Guard). Don't forget the siege in Storm of Iron was a huge affair, with thousands of troops, dozens of tanks artillery pieces and whole titan squadrons on each side. Add in a traitor Guard or Renegade Militia contingent to be the cannon fodder and gun crews, and you've got the perfect simulation of a large scale Iron Warriors force.

Hey,

isnt that "unsportsmanlike?"

In 40kA, our enemies have Flyers, Titans, Strength D weapons and Vortex Grenades.

I doubt a Bas or three is going to imbalance that sort of playing field.

Plus, IW players, as a rule, will have only one Bas (and Vin) anyway.

But, it's as good an excuse as any to be able to field the ones we've got . . .
