NemFX
I always love seeing your work. I really like the way you made your commander on foot's breastplate. More functional, less ornate. Love that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/137022-artwork-nestir-v-aod-artwork-thread/page/2/#findComment-1791616 Share on other sites

Chaptermaster Graymantle
Glad you like him guys! Also happy to see he turned out pretty much the way you thought he would Cambrius! And thanks on the RL thing to. – Best job I could get now is to get a job making 40k images. :) I really like the way you made your commander on foot's breastplate. More functional, less ornate. NemFX
Anytime, I've been trying to make some of my forces a bit more realistic.. I think I made my Lamenters scouts a little too realistic though, they seem to be stealing everything not bolted down. And everything that is bolted down. And the bolts. Chaptermaster Graymantle
Ok, so I've received a bit of interest towards the Iniel Bannister model, by PM. The general interest seems to be what parts he is put together with, so I've decided to put up a proper answer here: http://www.codexguardianangels.com/images/aod/nestir-v/dread-cmdr-bannister.jpg The model is a combination of several dreadnoughts and other models. Its made up of the following: The main body is from the Chaplain Dreadnought from Forgeworld: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/chapdread.htm The MK IV Dreadnought Plasma Cannon right arm, can be found here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/SPACE...EADNOUGHTS.html The head is from the World Eater Dreadnought from Foreworld: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/worldeater.htm The legs are from the regular Games Workshop dreadnought http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1080088 The feet and Close Combat Arm are from the GW Venerable Dradnought: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1080093 The sword is from the Inquisitor range of models. I cant remember which one though. I think it was a additional weapons pack for Artemis, but I cant find it in the GW shop now. The eagles on his legs are Brass etched eagles from Forgeworld. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/QUATE...SSORIES_19.html The launcher on the top is either a Chaos vehicle smoke launcher, or a launcher that came with the Dreadnought models from Forgeworld. – Im afraid I cant remember which, but I believe it came with one of the Dreadnought models. Some of the models were partly ripped apart. – Had to take their heads off and a bit more. The model was then put together in a converted facion. I removed all the skulls, greenstuffed out the gothic arches on the arm, and finally painted it. The model is mounted on a regular black Dreadnought base with snow flocking. The picture was taken against a greenscreen. I then removed the background, and colour corrected it. The background was made in 3d, then the two images were put together, adjusted and heavily post prosessed with atmospherics like snow, fog etc. And voila! Hope that answers your questions! earthen
thanks so much for posting this. Could the sword have been from the "Devotee Malicant"? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1110225 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/137022-artwork-nestir-v-aod-artwork-thread/page/2/#findComment-1801254 Share on other sites
Chaptermaster Graymantle
Well, I guess the Devotee Malicant sword could be used, but I believe it is probably to thin to be the one I used. Im pretty certain it was from a conversion sprue that isn't available at the moment. Anyhow, it is a metal piece. Maybe that will jog someone's memory. TDA Could be, but it stands to reason that I would have more than one chainweapon for Inquisitor in that case; and I don't.Still, I cant rule it out. Cool to see someone else make a picture to Sigismund! ;) Interesting looking Chainsword. Chaptermaster Graymantle
Ok, so I sat down this morning and started dabbling in Photoshop. I was never supposed to make anything serious, just dabbling, but once I got started the a picture just sorta grew out of the woodworks. Then I decided I might as well make it something Nestir V related, so I threw a couple of the Nestir V characters in there alongside the planet. Not much in the way of a planned image, but ok for a few hours of brushing up on the Photoshop tools. The Characters are: On the left: Veteran Brother Morg of the Legio Bolter & Chainsword, seconded from the Sons of Medusa. - Nephren-ka's character in the Arena of Death. On the right: Inquisitor Rugajov of Ordo Hereticus. - A None Player Character. through the window on the left you can see the enormous ice planet: Nestir V. Enjoy! http://www.codexguardianangels.com/nestir_v/Morg-and-Rugajov-in-space.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/137022-artwork-nestir-v-aod-artwork-thread/page/2/#findComment-1998099 Share on other sites

Chaptermaster Graymantle
Brilliant stuff, CMG :DThank you Sigismund!Glad you liked it! :) And just putting up my answer to Reyner's reply in the AoD forum here to: Nice picture, the corridor seems a little thin though for a starship. I'll be eagerly awaiting the read :PWell yes, but I imagine the wast starships of the 40k universe have corridors of many different sizes.I had no goal or purpose for this image, so size just sorta happened. I imagine this would be some sort of passage between larger areas of the ship. Maybe a docking corridor or an observation deck of some sort. For all we know, it could be one of the thin antennae-like structures that are so common on the 40k ships and they could be standing it what is generally perceived as being upwards, meaning they would be horizontal in regards to the rest of the ship. - After all, there is no need for gravity in space. But yeah, it is a narrow corridor. - Sorta gives that cramped, bottled up, dark and scary Space Hulk feel. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/137022-artwork-nestir-v-aod-artwork-thread/page/2/#findComment-1998458 Share on other sites
Chaptermaster Graymantle
Well, this time I made some stuff that will go into the Nestir V website eventually. Energy and life readouts for the sides of the Campaign. They will be updated between each round. Im hoping to animate these in Flash to eventually. Chaptermaster Graymantle
Well, as promised in the AoD forum, the next image for the Nestir V AoD is of a Chaos Character. This time it is Chaos Lord Neigorath, who is the current leader of the AoD's game aspect, for the Chaos side. So, here is Chaos Lord Neigorath taking a stroll in the Underworld of 'The Eternal Night', as the locals on Nestir V call the many interlinked subterranean areas of the planet. Enjoy! Chaptermaster Graymantle
Well, considering that people don't seem to have thought the Neigorath image was 'hot enough', I'm posting up another sort of hotness. 'General Storm' is a key player in the Nestir Crusade and has had quite an impact on the Nestir V campaign so far. She is much older than she looks, has unmatched experience in Cold Weather warfare and spesific knowledge about the Arch-enemy at Nestir V. She also holds Command of the Imperial Guard forces on Nestir V, with full Aeronautical and Fleet support. So far in the story she has helped the Crusade tremendously by sharing vital information; by supporting the Campaign to defeat the enemy at Hive Primus; and her forces also took control off and restored order to Hive Secundus. The force polices the now freed, but yet chaotic Hives; helps rebuild and also serves for scout, recon and archelogical missions outside the Hives. While Storm serves as a General of the Imperial Guard in the story, her background is extremely complex and if the tales about her are true, then she is a Starchild and potentially also a sort of construct of the Eldar, with Eldar DNA built into the mix. - Which would help explain her youthful appearance despite her advanced age. - That and a few Rejuvinat treatments. This, coupled with the fact that she holds some very advanced and unique Wargear, influence far beyond that of a mere General and knowledge far advanced of her station, means she would probably count as an Inquisitor Lord, posing as a General of the Imperial Guard, if used in an actual 40k game. - So for purposes of posting her here, lets call her an Inquisitor Lord. Currently in the story, she is active at the ruins of Hive Tertius, where she and her force searches for a hidden underground tunnel (Undarbrunner), leading to an ancient Eldar Webway Portal ('BelahRill', the Glittering Path of Bifrost). This is the next battle and story up for the Nestir V campaign, so it seems fitting to put this image out at this time. The image itself has been on my hard-drive for months now, but it was never meant to be more than a concept sketch of General Storm, depicting her in her dress uniform shortly after her arrival at 'Nestir V's - Theater of War'. I'm putting this image out as a final anyway and hope to make even more images of her in the future. Enjoy! http://www.codexguardianangels.com/nestir_v/General-Storm-Hawkin-Frost.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/137022-artwork-nestir-v-aod-artwork-thread/page/2/#findComment-2015739 Share on other sites
