Does this mean that I wrote the Octaguide? If so, I need to stop linking it to people. How self-promoting can you be?

As has been mentioned elsewhere, that would come across as extremely smug. :)

Could you work in the bit where I'm Batman?

Good lord. :P

Are you guys plotting to hijack the whole Liber with Batman discussions? :)

In fact, If I've followed this correctly, this is really all the work of one guy arguing with himself. :P

EDIT: Huh, when it's a guy called Ace Debonair providing the voice of reason, you know things have really gone off the deep end. :)

I decided via PM since he didn't know that he was me, he couldn't actually be me. I'm awesome, so he would have realized.

And no. This is the end. It's time for my secret identity to move back into the shadows.

Like Batman always does.

And I, Manbat, await you in the shadows. :tu:

Purge the mutant!

B) Let's leave the Batman stuff out of this now, shall we? :D

Emperor help me, I'm going to get back on topic. :P

Reiving

I'm sure this word should be spelt 'Reviving', and I'm sure last time I said it you told me to look up 'Reiving', which, incidentally, didn't come up with anything.

Unless I totally missed the point last time, and you didn't spot the typo so much as my decision to question the choice of word.

In which case, way to distract from the issue at hand, Ace. :D

why exactly anyone with a will to write and an interest in space-marines suddenly goes off into their own chapter-wonderland is beyond me. i do appreciate the idea of planet-based chapters more, it says to me they are able and willing to stake their own for that which they protect. it appears these are like small-fry adeptus mechanicus with a mind for the power-struggle that the navigator houses are all befuddled with. it annoys me that any green marine winds up being a lax or low-combat type, but that can meet. if for instance the emporor should return they can provide adequate support should there be any peculiar power-struggle (if navigator houses or other such moneywads should consider it best for him not to live) this was close to my idea of the iron world warriors, but not quite. white for purity, green for lively, ongoing strength. they had a high defense and approach angle with a mind to make every marine into an apothecary. they would operate in tandem with imperial guard and/or p.d.f..

in all likelihood this chapter (stone hearts) would use armored motorbikes as their main vehicle, smart move in this rule set. in all likelihood you could make a very stylicious chapter here, my approval since the dark angels are wierd idiots, just hunting down all the little traitors one by one over the millenia, stupid by my account when similar action could halt multiple other attacks.

"only the emperor may forgive" stone: the notion of slow descision bringing swift and certain doom, unbending resolve. not many retreats, fall-backs, or confused orders, either win or die. also brings the idea of hatred or zeal being simply the exposed, torrential force of a molten core. martial-arts based kind of and earth-bender or tai-chi movement. this rock idea makes me think stone-heart marines would be annoyingly stubborn, choosing more often than preferable to simply punch anything that appears to be an enemy. "the hell? you don't even have a power-fist! why are you punching that chaos titan?", "why complain? shut-up and get me one!"

I read thru this again. The only part that strikes a false spark with me is the Duke's Bastard son getting an entire company of space marines. Seems like overkill to guard and spy on one rogue trader. Maybe a squad or combat squad might work a little better.

Madwolf

Well, Tyrel Cathek in the Book of the Astronomican has them, and he's a loonie git.

In C:SM 3e, the Ultramarines send a half company and three Thunderhawks along with a Rogue Trader as part of an Explorator Fleet.

Is it a lot of Marines? Yes. But it's not like they're not being useful, and it's not like they wouldn't spend their time doing something very similar to this anyway. Besides, just because they're escorting him doesn't mean they can't send the occasional detachment off to do something else.

And it only took five years! That's less than WWII, if you count the Chinese and all the random German invasions!<br /><br />Seriously, people. There's a reason I tell you IAs take time. <img data-cke-saved-src="http://bolterandchainsword.com//public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.png" src="http://bolterandchainsword.com//public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.png" class="bbc_emoticon" title=":P" />

EDIT:

Or, as it SHOULD say:

Small piece of official fluff from GW here (screenshot page shown highlighting preferred power weapons). Quite interesting, not sure that it changes anything here, but it's good to know it's there.

Really an accident?  Well, they're all characters from George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series (HBO's Game of Thrones). Tyrion is on of the series most popular characters, the Tyrells are a famous family, and well Stoneheart I can't explain without spoiling the next season of the show.

I figured it was a subtle homage by someone who had read the books, lol.
