lord_bunny
but... the... daleks... :'( don't mutilate them! send them to me! I'd love to get my hands on some of those GW fellahs! oh well, I'll just wait for the airfix kit.... so awsome, the mocks look brilliant. Nice work too. I love the use of old MKs of armour, I think it suits them better. Commander Skaav
I have to ask though; are those old plastic Daleks on top of that 'Raider? YOU WIN BROTHER!!! yes these are indeed the old GW doctor Who´s daleks . The use of the old figures isn´t right according to the fluff, but I wanted to finally use my collection of old armors marines :P Ju Kaleb Daark The first thing I thought when I saw your Landraider was... "Those are Dalek bases", considering I am a Doctor Who fan. I like the style and feel you've given to this army. I would dread to put my Chaos marines up against such a force. What rule set are you using? Daemonhunters? The project must have taken you a long time to plan and to build the models, painting them must feel like it takes for ever. But what you've done here is really nice. <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/137484-adeptus-custodes-army/page/2/#findComment-1586793 Share on other sites

The project must have taken you a long time to plan and to build the models, painting them must feel like it takes for ever. But what you've done here is really nice. :D I planned it to be able to use the SM and the daemon hunter codexes, plus The french Waaagh' s people wrote an exellent pre heresy legions codex that I will be using for the French Waagh day. As for the time it took me to convert these figure ;)  don't even talk about it mate! It took me about 6 month and I still have a lot of work to do (especially since I saw Proximity 's PH Emperor's Children army on The Great Crusade forum, check out his work, it's simply awesome). I plan on adding another custodian squad with Halberds (I' ll prepare a tutorial on them ), a motojet squad of five, another dreadnought and I was thinking of a sniper sister of silence squad (count as scouts) and may be add a rhino or two and a predator ( if I can get my hands on the old RT kit ). I also will change/add the 20 custodian marines with the same helmet for all, just like in the artwork.... But we' re not there yet, first I 've got to finish the first 750 pts, we' ll see about the rest later ( I also have my Alpha Legion army to finish and my 40k version of Kaleb Daark to paint ....so much to do so little time... :( ) Ju Kaleb Daark Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/137484-adeptus-custodes-army/page/2/#findComment-1586998 Share on other sites

Kaleb Daark
Happy new year everybody long time no see :P Here are a few updates ( the pics aren't great but I still didn't won the lotery so no new camera...) first a new version of the Emperor http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewEmperor01A.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewEmperor01B.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewEmperor01C.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewEmperor01D.jpg And since the Emperor cannot be present at all time, my Custodian Centurion http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/CustodianCenturion01A.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/CustodianCenturion01B.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/CustodianCenturion01C.jpg As you can still only minor use of GS, bits bits and bits. And last but not least my new Custodian Dreadnought unpainted (and with a shoulder pad missing) http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewDreadnought01A.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewDreadnought01B.jpg Then painted http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewDreadnought01C.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewDreadnought01D.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewDreadnought01E.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/NewDreadnought01F.jpg This one is trickier than usual, I wanted to get an older look for my dread; so my friend Tiriel gave me that idea. It's mostly based on Sentinel and dreadnought bits and a lot of plasticard ( also the fist comes from a Gundam kit , the guns from Imperial guard Heavy weapons and the Head is an Old Epic Titan which was refered to as Custodian Head, I couldn't not use it in my army :P ) Wiplash: I have HUGE bits boxes 40klord I'll prepare a tutorial if you want but these are quite simple; besad on A tomb kings standard, an ork shoulder pad and a marine shoulder pad (the wing comes from a rhino icon) As Usual Comments welcome El JuJu Kaleb Daark :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/137484-adeptus-custodes-army/page/2/#findComment-1826047 Share on other sites

Commander Skaav
Question... Would it be possible to include a Custodes in the guise of a Chapter Master or an Inquisitor as in to say, if the situation is dire enough, the Emperor (now being on the Golden Throne), could theoretically dispatch one of his own Custodes to lead a Chapter of Marines or Grey Knights? Only after seeing your work, I'm inspired to have a go at my own variation, but on a much smaller scale (practically a single Custodes model). Yodhrin
Kaleb this is fantastic work, really ingenious use of bitz and plasticard. If you get an oppertunity, a quick guide to making the Dread/parts list would be much appreciated, this is exactly the sort of look I'm aiming for with my Robot Maniple. Commander Skaav
Thanks for the info, I might adapt plastic dreads in the future with these sorts of parts instead, as from what I can see it makes the Power Fist look more realistic! Kaleb Daark
Yodhrin: Ouch..... Ok I'll try to do that : you'll need a complete sentinel model and a pair of legs more . And also the legs of a Dreadnought ( to get the centerpiece), close combat arm and exhausts (for that last one it's to be simpler cause I did mine with a Terminator cyclone missile launcher and 2 sets of sentinel Exhausts pipes) for the head I used a Old Epic Titan Head, IMO these are the best sized but you could also do with an Inquisitor marine helmet (if you can get one) the Feet are made with a sentinel feet and 2 marine shoulder pads. And you finally need a fuel can (GW or else) to make the collar and the overhead armor. 2 autocanons from the Cadian HW box (heavy bolter and lascanon works too but you 'll have to shorten them a bit. to hold them together I used the Sentinel's exhausts armor. 2 terminator shoulder pads for the knee armors The imperial eagle I used comes from the cityfight basing kit 's etch brass Everything else is GS and plasticard. It's more of a parts listing than a guide but for the building it really is a matter of choices so ... kinda a difficult to explain (especially without pics....) 'Hope that helps a bit {}{: Thanks and yeah I know .... But When I'll be good at Freehand painting..... :) Chaplain Desmodus; sorry I'm a man and I'm already engaged Commander Remiel: This comes from the WhFB plastic Empire Wizard For those of us that read and droolled on the Horus Heresy artbooks, that wanted to build an Adeptus Custodes army, But can't scuplt even a snowman with GS; Here's How I did mine. I must warn you though You should have a Huge bits box (or bank account) ... 1: what you need http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/01cequilfaut.jpg 1 plastic marine commander's cape 2 Dark Angel veteran legs 3 Space marine arms (chaos or loyalist it won't matter) 4 High elf spears ( most of the time you'll only need one but you know) 5 Winged Skull Icon from the HQ marine squad 6 Winged Icon from the HighElves Spearmen 7 hands from the Chaos warriors 8 Marine shoulder pads 9 spiky bits from the chaos warrios 10 a bolter 11 Chaos marine back pack 12 A Tomb Kings Sword ( can get it with either the squelettons of chariots) 13 A High Elves Silver Helms head 14 This Chaos marime helmet ( to get the plumet) not show the front of a marine torso ( the MK8 plate aldeardy has the collar but any thing can do) 2: What you can also use http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/03variantescasques.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/02variantescapes.jpg These capes are from the Empire Plastic general and High Elves archers These Heads are from the High elves Spearmen and Chariot (the chariot ones already have the plumet) but remember both are abit smaller . The legs can also be replaced with regular or chaos marine legs You can also use Dark Elves spearmen spears For the marines shoulder pads..... just use what you can get your hands on 3: Let's play http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/04corpsetjambes.jpg Cut out the back of the torso from The DA legs and glue the cape and front torso together http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/05brasetlance1.jpg The tricky part is the hands and spear .... start with gathering what you'll need then cut out the forearms and hands and the weapons from the Chaos warriors hands(7) . Then cut a part of the spear ( approx 1,5 cm) http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/06brasetlance2.jpg If you don't want your Custodian to fall into pieces each time you touch it ( belive me it really happens) Drill the hands through and use whatever thin metal rod you can get. You'll also have to drill the middle spear bits on 2mm each side Then cut the right arm just under the shouder ( he ain't be holding a bolter ) http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/07positionnerlesbras.jpg Now you'll have to position everything and see how this gets together you'll need several attemps before getting a satisfying result http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/08oncollelesmains.jpg Once you'll get the above stated satisfying result glue the hands and middle spear on ( again think drilling ....) And glue the legs too you'll see what the general pose of the figure will be . http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/09tailledelalance.jpg Now cut 2 other bits of the spear IMO the lenght of the High Elves spear is quite good you can use that to make sure your Custodians have the same lenghted spear http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/10onrajoutelebolteretlalame.jpg Glue the bolter on the spear, Then the Tomb Kings blade (12 ) and the chaos spiky bit (9) on the bolter. And glue the pads on. Take the winged skull icon (5) cut out one wing and glue it on the right shoulderpad, (5) (note you might have to dremmel it a bit inside to make it fit well)) Now if oyu didn't use a Mk8 Front plate ( just like here) you might wanna add a collar ( it will hide the flesh part of the Silver Helm head...): A small bit of plasticard 1cm long and 2 or 3mm high that you'll glue on.... http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/11latete.jpg Now glue the Silver Helm Head (13) on which you'll glue the chaos marine plumet (14) http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/12backpack01.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/13backpackmont.jpg We're almost there, the back pack You cut the High Elves winged Icon (6)in 2 ( cut out the gem) and glue them on the Chaos marine back pack (11) http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Custodes/14Etvoil.jpg Glue the backpack on , a base, Et voilà ! It might seem long and tricky (sometimes boring even) but when you love....
