Cheers Phal.

w00t! 2nd model in the finished thread! Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but there you go! ;)

I drew Commissar Molotov's Castigator Chapter and hopefully this is something like his vision of the Chapter colours.

The model is an old Mk8 metal with the head drilled out and the eagle filed off, a Death Watch head, the pointy hand from the old devastator box set, the banner from the 1st metal veterans set and the storm bolter from the Veteran Aurelius GD model - for anyone who is interested :P

The final model is a sergeant from the 1st squad of the second company (Comm. Mol, please name him :) )

Thanks for letting me in on the whole swap project, it has been great fun to see other people's slant on your work, and I look forward to being invited to the next one!! *nudge, nudge*

I honestly think I could have done more with it. But my mind is a bit chaotic right now since my car died this morning.... but I hope it turned out well all the same.

the wepions are a tiny bit big

and mine is all done, I present the Sublimators chaplain. Overall I've had quite a bit of fun with this guy. There are a few areas I could probably have worked on a bit more especially the base. Sorry the pics don't really capture all of the painting since I haven't sealed them yet it was a bit shiny.

The arc with spikes on it in the chapter symbol should be gold.

Apart from that, tis perfect :) I like the look of older armour and a tutorial is definitely welcome for the skull helmet.

:P

eh missed the gold bit there. I can probably see about touching that up tonight. It's rather unfortunate since my experience in painting gold chapter insignia on my own squads tells me it doesn't really show up well. Forced me to switch to straight yellow to stay visible. Glad you like the rest of him though  I posted a brief tutorial on the helmet in the WIP thread earlier, not really much to say since it's not that complicated.

FINISHED  One Privateer of Barret's Chapter :D :

Yay! More work than I've done on my own warband! :D

Has the flamer been cut-down, or do my eyes deceive me? I like the backwards grip on the chainsword, too.

Of course, this throws into sharp relief the fact that I've got to finish start my own entries. And soon!

Hi guys, well finally finished, the last bit of weathering was the easiest and quickest but took a long time to get around to, is there anything else you can see to improve it? what do you think?

Awesome! I've never seen a Native American themed chapter before. You really capture it well. I love the fang charms, "handpainted" kneepads, skin paint, and feathers.

Ok, in just under the wire.

Here we go in amazing BnC Roto-vision

Thought it was about time I brought this across here from the WIP thread.

What can I say, other than what a great experience; I'm already looking ready to the next one!

Edit: I surprised how good he ended up looking from table top (2-3 feet) distance in normal room light. I'd still like to do a few touch ups before I seal him, like fixing the toe touch up, cleaning around the eyes and evening out his tactical squad mark (you can't see it, it's slightly uneven).

Learned alot about the current state of my abilities:

1 - My GS cloth skills still need work; it's not smooth enough. I should probably let it dry more before shaping, but I think I got the weight of the cloth right

2 - Need to remember to double check mold lines and sand GS before painting... brain farts left the front leg unsanded and the mold lines on the head

3 - Freehanding squad markings is really not very hard at all. Thanks Cpt Stahl for the awesome tutorials--the techniques were very transferable.

4 - Need to improve highlighting especially on red, need to be much cleaner with wash, need more eye practice (and just realized I forgot the white dots)

5 - Five hours from prime to done isn't that bad. Really.

All in all, a lot of fun and it wasn't too bad for my first 'completed' mini in 20+ years.
