DIY Swap marines

shame there are only 7 from 24 finished, good work everyone who finished.

@IT: Oddly enough, that's about what I expected. There is this general rule of thumb that I learned from someone called, "The Rule of the Thirds". I use it all the time in Real Life project work, but it shows up just about everywhere. Quite simply, you only see about 1/3rd of any result you are expecting.

For instance, if we applied it to this project, we'd probably find that of all the people who looked at this thread, about 1/3rd decided to participate. Of the total number that decided to participate, about 1/3rd never got started, about 1/3rd got started, but were unable to finish, and about 1/3rd finished. This is not intended to be a judgement on anyone, regardless of which category you ended up in, only that the tool allows you to do some high level planning for projects based on some general math.

Where the rule really comes into its own, is when you start with the end in mind and then work your way back upstream. So let's say that next year we wanted to have 10 finished models. Then we'd backtrack to work on getting 30 people to start the project, knowing that 10 won't get started, 10 won't be able to complete, and so on.

Anyway, I commend everyone for participating at all the levels. Even if all you are able to do is provide your chapter for someone else to work on, you contributed. And the end result is we all learn something new that is fun and contributes to the general B&C community...and that, my friends, is what this is all about.

Catch everyone next year!

Cheers,

Hey all...as Honda said about thirds, I fall in the middle category of not being able to complete. I just saw that there was a deadline for these peeved.gif and after being on holidays/working for the better part of august (and still currently on holidays) I had too much going on. Sorry about not completing the mini, hopefully I can actually finish in the next swap.
The one marine I can make out from the masses of WIP marines on my desk so happens to be BOB_MACKENZIEs :) I think I had the black and most of the red done and that's it. I might still finish him and post him up though, depends(new cold-one knights are just too nice to paint lol)

I think we can all say that it's the taking part that counts. Frankly I'm surprised I managed to finish the model in under 24hrs, more surprised that I actually managed to finish it. To those of you who didn't, keep working at it and put up some pics, I'm sure they'll look good :) Those of you who didn't start, try again next year :) And those of you who managed to finish, congrats and well done on the models :)

PS: Honda I love that model of mine :P Matching that is going to be fun.

What a great idea for a thread and some stunning results to boot! Pity I missed out this time, just getting back in to painting after a few years and I'm looking just to do one off projects (not really a gamer as a) I sucked at it and b ) so little time). Again big round of applause to you all

@ Brother P - Offers encouragement as yours is still the most completed member of the Tigers Resurgent! My test mini didn't even get fully painted before it went back in to the Simple Green! Link

@ Everyone else - surely there is no reason not to finish your efforts and post in here over time? Obviously with a nice big I AM LATE IN FINISHING THIS!

Ok, as everyone has mentioned, Well done to those that finished! To those that didn't, you're not alone <_< I myself have had the most horrendous time in RL™ and so have not been able to finish my Apocalypse Lord. So I land in the 3rd that started but didn't finish. To Honda I say "apologies" and a promise to finish.

To those others that didn't finish, Keep going! A missed deadline should not dissuade you from continuing.

Thanks
