On another note, I rethought my collective consciousness theory. A sort of "hive mind" would be far too all-encompassing I feel. But I do still feel that there's something at work in the general area.

Maybe they are brainwashing themselves?

 

There's a little something called "psychohypnotic indoctrination" - usually a psychological treatment that helps Space Marine Neophytes to control their new implants.

The Alpha Legion is rumored to use it on their (post-heresy)Operatives to make them completely loyal, and when the Legion infiltrated the slums of Ghorstengrad they brainwashed entire generations with mental triggers and subconscious behaviour patterns that were unaffected by the indoctrination methods of the local loyalist Marine chapter.

 

Since they are obviously experts in this field maybe the Alpha Marines themselves are undergoing psychological treatments that ensure their general behaviour.

Man, it's so confusing trying to figure these guys out. I feel like my brain's goin to pop.

 

I hear you, man. Maybe we're looking too deep into this. Maybe we're not supposed to understand how the Legion works. Maybe GW doesn't even know how the Legion works.
