JetfireUK
really nice - tempted to give it a go myself. think the purple looks really good - the complment between the colors makes it look like the armor is warping into something new along with the marine inside. lhg033 Thanks for your comments. My favourite part on any of the three is the blending of blue and purlpe on the head - I think it really fits the possessed theme. I'll post the fourth figure when it's done.

Iacton
Hi Jetfire, Some really solid work and technically, it looks to me like you are improving. I think that your pinky purple has moved on really well, don't be afraid to push the highlights on a bit more, especially because, as you have already realised yourself, you are going down a bit of a blind alley with the blue. The armour on the 1st model was spot on, and didn't need so much extreme highlighting due to your excellent lightning effect, so you want to draw more attention to the "skin" areas by maybe starting slightly lighter and allowing yourself to shade AND highlight. I'm not a big fan of the possessed models per se, but you have carried them off well enough for me to like them now :)
JetfireUK
Hi Guys, It's been a while since I last posted as it takes me ages to finish a figure. Anyway I've finally got the possessed squad finished and here's the results of my last two figures. With these last two I've tried to retain the highlighted purple but have a much darker blue for contrast. As always please feel free to comment and criticism is always welcome as it's the only way to improve. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/JetfireUK/SL270509.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/JetfireUK/SL270505.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/JetfireUK/SL270506.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/JetfireUK/SL270507.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/JetfireUK/SL270508.jpg
FishSpit
darkening the possesed down was amazing, you combound the first model's armour with the second one's highlighting, and made a squad of possesed that inspired me to get some myself... you got some mad painting skills bro (you think you are a slow painter? i have a 1000 point Chaos army in the works, and 30 of them are painted...30 POINTS worth, not 30 Models)
JetfireUK
Thanks for the kind comments! I'm glad that I've almost nailed the dark blue as I'm working on a set of Terminators next and I want to get a nice crisp look on the armour plates to make the lightning stand out. I'm really looking forward to developing this theme on the terminators and a set of raptors too.
FaerChan
okay, you see the freehand effect you have on the blue areas of your model? that contrasts nicely, at least in my opinion, but while you have a small amount of contrast on the purple, it just doesn't pop. It looks really nice, but it doesn't draw the eye and hold it. Your second and third models contrast well in my opinion... but after that, not so much, though your painting is great, your highlighting is just too dark i think... With the purple is it that I've only highlighted the edges of the purple to light pink? Any suggestions on how I can make the purple 'pop' will be really helpful. Cheers! JetfireUK
Hi There, Here's a group shot of the five Possessed figures I've done - the colours vary dramatically but that could be interpreted as the level of possession of each Chaos Marine. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/JetfireUK/PossessedGroup.jpg Cheers, Oli
