obsidian_k3
Hi O.K. Disclaimer! This is NOT my article, I just thaught you would like to see it, I know im going to use them in my ravenwing attack squadron, fits in well.I found this article on http://www.tauonline.org Thanks to GreyDeath for this Ok here's how I do my Gun Jeeps.Or, in other words, convert the Land Speeder into a jeep or attack buggy. What you need for this is: Of course, the GW Landspeeder 4 Large Ork Truk Tires Small piece of tubing Larger piece of tubing One Gunner (Marine, Guard, Orks up to you) Some stowage and gear (Optional but nice) What to do.. First open up the Land Speeder and build it as normal in the instructions by placing in the marines and the back wall and dash etc. Assemble your 4 truk tires. http://www.tauonline.org/Articles/Misc_ConvGuide_Jeep_1.jpg Then let that dry and get the top of the speeder. This is the hardest and most dangerous part of the walkthrough. Be careful. Cut the air dam off the top of the speeder and off the back wall of the marines inside. Then cut the wings off but try to cut straight down leaving the wall for that is what glues onto the bottom section you just built. Then take the jet engines and trim the jets off. http://www.tauonline.org/Articles/Misc_ConvGuide_Jeep_2.jpg Ok now then you need to place a piece of plastic over the hole in the top of the speeder. Back in the day when I did not have the money I used the plastic blister from a GW figure. But plastic that is thicker and stronger is way better if you can find or buy some its recommended. Glue that on top from the front all the way to the back and almost to each side don't try to cover just the hole build a hole new top. Also why you're at it cut the front bumper so its not a grav block anymore but just a front bumper. Cut it just at the corner just behind the corner locking tab but remove the anti-grav block. Now you can glue the side doors in place if you want to and I do because I don't want someone looking in and seeing my marine has no legs.. Then go ahead and glue your top and bottom together. http://www.tauonline.org/Articles/Misc_ConvGuide_Jeep_3.jpg Flip your land speeder over and take your top wing off your sprue and glue it underneath making the back level with the bottom of the speeder so it will sit level. I take my inner piece of air dam and also glue it into the wing as a form of support but mostly to fill in and make it look natural. Then take a piece of medium size tubing and glue a piece the width of the speeder across the front and back. The small knobs that stick down will have to be cut off the front and I place my tubing on the second row back. Then take your jet engines and if your doing this for Orks you could face the jets out as normal because a Rocket Buggy would be cool for a looted Orks vehicle. But if not if you cut most of the jets off then the will slide in backwards. Mount the top flush with the roof of the speeder and the bottom lines up where it should go. http://www.tauonline.org/Articles/Misc_ConvGuide_Jeep_4.jpg Now cut some smaller tubing that will slide threw the medium tube you glued to the bottom the the speeder. I cut at about 5.2 cm you could go 5.5 if you want that buggy look and more room for the tires to turn etc. The smaller tubing should slide into the hole in the wheel if not drill it to fit. Mount the tires and center everything just right. http://www.tauonline.org/Articles/Misc_ConvGuide_Jeep_5.jpg Flip the speeder back over and set the tires etc. How's everything looking? If it looks a little off-center you may want to cut the small box that sticks out on the driver side front I do. Time for a Gunner. If you're doing this for guard you still need to mount a top turret ring from a rhino or predator which ever you have. Then mount the weapon you want onto that. Place in your figure by cutting his legs off to make him stick up just the right height. Attach his arms to the weaponand give him his gear etc. I did a marine and here is how mine looks: http://www.tauonline.org/Articles/Misc_ConvGuide_Jeep_6.jpg Ok I am not going to put in the drivers etc because I have learned it is way easier to paint them first and then simply glue them in. So that leaves me with my bits and stowage.Take the side steps and glue them just in front of the back tires just below the small door. The gunner needs it now for getting onto the top. And place it tight against the cab and the front guys could use it also if need be. Ok mount the passenger gunners gun bar the half round tube. And the face shield for the driver. But I would not be done if I did not add stowage and gear. So I add tow hooks and fuel cans even a spare tire if you order and extra tire go for it. If your doing guard this really helps, marines not so much but its cool to do as a vehicle. Looted orks what not you guys need the bits of your own so throw them on. http://www.tauonline.org/Articles/Misc_ConvGuide_Jeep_7.jpg And that's it. Paint it up and you're all set. What I use mine for I use mine as my Attack Bikes therefore being able to use them without permission as they have set rules and wysiwyg. And at RTT no one has given me any troubles when I am up front and tell them what this conversion is representing. Most like it and its larger not smaller so not helping me but actually helping them. You can make it a vdr and go wild on weapons etc. Up to you. Everything is GW so its a very legal kit to use. Its cost is very reasonable as far as conversions go. The speeder. A gunner 4 truk tires And some tubing. Not bad at all. Thank you. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/138696-modelling-speeder-jeeps/ Share on other sites

King Tiger
Much better than a normal speeder, looks better, and no stupid rod to keep snapping every time you take it out your case Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/138696-modelling-speeder-jeeps/#findComment-1601327 Share on other sites

obsidian_k3
I doubt they do, it cirtainly doesn't look like they can, im only half way through my own though, converting them to be able to do so would be cool Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/138696-modelling-speeder-jeeps/#findComment-1602117 Share on other sites
NemFX
I made one with lego wheels and they turn. The catch? Balancing them. 3 out of 4 of mine are balanced. I could probably get that last one, but there's almost as good a chance that I'll damage the wheel, the speeder, or both.
