Eiric Hakon
I think those models just broke my jaw. Keyboards hurt when your chin hits em at 50 mph! Perhaps that'll teach you not to drive and look at B&C (how do u get connection on the move?!) :D Stunning paint jobs all 'round. The golden one is my fave though

Katana
As a khorne player, i would love to say that i play the red menace for daemon hunters, but then i see that since this thread started, you have painted 5 times as many minis as me and at a quality far better thatn i could ever hope to acheive in this life. well done! The God Emperor
*GiveS Wappellious a good shake and proceed to break down and cry, jealous and envious of Wappellious's painting skills* Why man? Why? Why paint them so good? On a serious note, I think you can beat an 'Eavy Metal-ist in a painting comp. :D
wappellious
Thanks for all the kind words <_< I have often wondered what a 'day in the life' of the 'Eavy Metal painters is like. It might not be all that different from ours, in that there are endless, vast silver hordes thirsty for paint. Or in the case of pinning and pin vises... blood! ;)
LunchBox
Well ^_^ ...it looks like I may be doomed again to stand in your shadow next week. Great as usual...I'm looking forward to seeing you and the Mrs. again! Any chance you'll be at the Bunker on Friday?
wappellious
We'll try to get to the Bunker on Friday <_< It would probably be in the afternoon or evening. Depending on how fast I can get things packed and do a final check through with the pet sitter, etc. We have had to take a pass the last few weeks heading over to the Bunker with all the Games Day craziness. No rest for the weary afterwards, though. 2 Demonhunter armies to paint (plus finishing mine), getting back to the Sisters, Tsons, and Necrons. Oh yeah... finishing off the lizardman army. Yup. I am Legion
I think you're better than most of the 'Eavy Metal Team boys. You have some raw talent their pal.

wappellious
A quick breakdown of the colors on these GK's The red ones began with scab red as a basecoat. I then did some dark glazing with blue-black and black mixed with the scab red. Eventually, I started working back with the scab red and mixed in a bit of blood red, using the transparency of those colors to my favor. I then mixed in more opaque colors such as blazing orange, then some firey orange. Ultimately golden yellow and a tiny bit of white were used to create the lightest lights. The white ones were more complicated. I began with kommando khaki, darkening it with reaper walnut and graveyard earth. Eventually I worked back to the kommando khaki, and began the long process of lightening with white. I had to work light to dark and dark to light on those guys... very tricky. It gets even more interesting when I go to do the terminators! I hope this is helpful!

wappellious
These guys are done the way we paint all of our miniatures... painting like our hair is on fire B) The figures in these images are current commissions. I will be posting the first all white Grey Knight group shot later today. You can check out our website at www.windycityminiatures.com to see some of Cathy's minis, and other things not posted here. In addition to my own 3500 point Demonhunter army, I have painted an entire 3000+ point DH force in the same manner as these. However, those figures were mostly straight out of the box, with not a lot of conversions. My own figures are all converted/scratch sculpted. All of my vehicles are made from scratch (2 land raiders, 4 Chimeras, and 6 dreadnoughts). I am working on two smaller DH armies now as commissions, in addition to a long term Thousand Sons project. For myself, I am also working on a WH army, as well as my own Thousand Sons and Necron armies. Add a lizardman army to that list as well. After the next bizzarre bizzar at the BUnker, I will probably be painting a wood elf army for my own use as well. Let's just say that we go through a lot of brushes!! ;) It is a lot of fun, though. wappellious
Hmmm, this is rapidly becoming less of a "Red Menace" thread, and more of an "egg whites" thread! ;) Here's a converted justicar mini to go with the other white GK's: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Wappellious/ConvertedWhiteJusticarONERESIZE.jpg
Chaos_Minds
Perhaps that'll teach you not to drive and look at B&C (how do u get connection on the move?!) ;) So cell phones don't cause accidents, the B&C does. Great GK's, I look forward to seeing more.
