Outlaw_Torn
Some updates! I'm a pretty slow painter and this mother took a little while but here's the drop pod for one of my combat squads: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/Smudger/DropPod.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/Smudger/DropPodWithSquad.jpg As for scorch marks and damage from atmosphere entry, i'm a little reluctent to do it at this stage. Mainly coz i'm pretty happy with the pod as is and if i go ahead and go nuts with blacks and browns and them don't like it or mess it up then i'm back to square one...:P Next up, 5 Man Dev squad with Rokkits ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139075-imperial-fists-log/page/2/#findComment-1642971 Share on other sites

Outlaw_Torn
Thanks for all your comments and critiques so far guys!! its really heartening and pleasing to hear them all. I've fixed up the blood on my wounded marine and sources some static grass for the bases but meanwhile, since this is a thread in the WiP forum i figure i'd better put up some Work in Progress shots before the mod's admoveo my ass over to the Hall of Honour :) Here's my Assault squad with the base coat of vomit brown done: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/Smudger/AssaultWip.jpg And here is my Dev squad that i'm currently working on. I'd say they are 65% done atm: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/Smudger/DevsWip.jpg more updates soon!! Tyranidman
Only missile launchers??? Why not las and plasma Cannons? Just an opinion. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139075-imperial-fists-log/page/2/#findComment-1644730 Share on other sites
BOBMAKENZIE
I think its cause Missile Launchers seem much more siegey. (At least to me) I dont know about him. Very Cool BTW. Crusader of Dorn
Very nice work, you should water down your ink though because it looks a wee bit too shiny - or are the glossed? Do you highlight with Bad Moon? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139075-imperial-fists-log/page/2/#findComment-1644760 Share on other sites
Outlaw_Torn
The ink is watered down, its about 5 coats of it. The finished models get a coat of testors dull coat when they are done. My already completed ones will get another go with it coz i think the wind on the day i did them took most of it away before it got to em. And no i dont highlight with Bad Moon, its Vomit Brown blended up with Bleached Bone :) As for why the missiles, this force i'm creating to start with is for a 750 pt tournemant in August so the missiles were the most economical choice while remaining versatile. Once the new SM codex comes out i'll look into the other possibilities. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Great job on the yellow, and some very nice looking marines. Have you tried the new Iyanden Sun foundation? It's amazingly close to the IF colors, and would eliminate a lot of the hassle of the multi-step paint job from the website you linked. It's amazingly close to the IF colors, and would eliminate a lot of the hassle of the multi-step paint job from the website you linked. Tried the Iyanden Darksun base coat method mate, it turns out far to mustardy for my liking to be honest. I wanted a warmer, deeper yellow in my Fists. icallitsoda
The Darksun method involves just as many, if not more steps... at least the way I did it. Brother-Chaplain Kage
I've been using Iyanden foundation for IF trophies on my coming Iron Warriors army, and it looked good to me pretty much straight from the bottle. I just added bleached bone and then white in small amounts for successive highlights and I think it turned out really well. Outlaw_Torn
Thanks guys :D The comp was lots of fun, my good mate from high school ran it and it was his first as TO so it wsa cool that it went down well. The army did fairly average Won 1 game by massacre but lost 3 and drew 1. I did however win the Best Army award, a peer judged painting prize so i was mightely impressed with that ;) I might treat myself to some Terminators next up i think and i'll muck around with the Lysander model to make him a bit cooler too :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139075-imperial-fists-log/page/2/#findComment-1660959 Share on other sites

ShinyRhino
Spectacular all around. The yellow is top-notch. Care to share how you contructed that assault marine with bothhands on his chainsword? Was it a matter of positioning a pair of pistol arms with new hands? Care to share how you contructed that assault marine with bothhands on his chainsword? Was it a matter of positioning a pair of pistol arms with new hands? Far more simple than that my friend and i'd be happy to share! Its pretty much the left arm off the sprue that comes with the Rhino/Razorback/Pred box for the dude thats manning the pintle mounted weapon and one of about three Bolter wielding right arms. They pretty much just fit together with very minimal cutting and jiggling. Made to order almost :) Wish i could boast that it was tough but it really ain't :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139075-imperial-fists-log/page/2/#findComment-1663483 Share on other sites
