Apocalypse Lords Chaplain

So, here's the finished shots of my termie chaplain.

Disclaimers:

1. I know the book is funky, it's not how I would have chosen to do it in hindsight. It's not how I planned it, it just showed up that way <shrug>

2. He is blind, that is why he has the blindfold on. His faith in the Emperor allows him to see. He BAAAAD!

So he's not perfect, but I am liking him more and more each day. I am definitely looking forward to getting him on the table and letting his naginata bring faith in the Emperor to the faithless.

C&C greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

He's only clutching one half of the book, the binding is untouched and free to close. The only way it would stay up would be if

a] He was moving

b] he stopped in the middle of the battle field to balance the book in order to prove captain shrike's point :)

Its free to close, doesn't mean it does- subject to what I said before :D

Yes he has lol :P

IMO he looks more of a librarian than a chaplain... he has a book, has no crozius (looks more like a force weapon),he's blind (psykers can se without eyes) and he's not wearing black armour...

Still I really like the model and it is a good conversion work. Love the base!

Love the model, but it doesn't look gothic like Chaplains should. It is a nice attempt at trying to break the mold, but it made him look like a Librarian. You could call him a Librarian if you don't already have one? :P

Then you could go and convert a new Chaplain. :ermm:

Alpha

Hey Honda, he is bad ass, love it all, agreed that if he was blue he would be the perfect libby but that's the great think about 40K, you can make you chappy anyway you want, very cool, I disagree also about the book closing, it is the year 40000, the guy is walking around in power armour wielding a force weapon, and they can't come up with a book that stays open when you want it too.

<sigh....> Yes, the book. It is certainly not ideal, being held from the top would have been much better, but it just didn't work out that way. Time to move on.

I think I came to accept the position because in a couple of recent sermons, I observed some of my pastors holding their bibles in a similar fashion. Sometimes the bible was open, sometimes it was closed on their hands. Given that this is just a snapshot in time, I went with it open.

Anyway, there is a reason why his armor isn't black. It is one of the divergent features of my chapter. All chaplain armor is either red, white or gold, which aligns them with one of the Triarchs (Chapter Master equivalents that are chaplains).

When I get a chance, I'll post a link to my fluff for those that are interested.

I find this comment very interesting. Alpha, could you elaborate on what you mean by him not being gothic enough. With all the skulls and stuff I put on his armor, I was afraid that I had overdone it. Besides the paint and the book, what would you have done differently? A crozius? I actually had built one that was going to hang from his belt, but it just started looking too cluttered, so I left it off.

i dont understand why the book is that way around...

...how about, if it was facing the other way around, the unfaithful would be unable to see what he is talking about. :P

Anyway, I do appreciate all the C&C and I am glad that you guys are taking a hard look at him. I much prefer that to all "jaw drops" and OMGs. I will continue to push the established canon on chapter related stuff in the near future and I know that is part of the exercise (the critical examination). I think that is where this community stands head and shoulders above all others, which is in kind of feedback that is provided to help people grow their skills.

...and if you knew me from work, it wouldn't surprise you that I have a chaplain who is red. B)

Also, if you check out my current WIP thread, perhaps you will see a chaplain that looks a little more conventional...well, sorta ;)

Cheers,

I must know......How oh how did you get the weapon like that?

Um...the weapon is just a combat blade on the end of a cut down thunder hammer. Is that what you mean?

Chaos sorcerer!!!

I find your lack of faith...disturbing. :D
