TheDarkOne
So The local Bunker in Oakville is having a doubles tournament Next Weekend. 1700 pts per player, 3200 for the team. I'm going to be gonig with my friend who pay Nids, Stealer haevy nids. I'm not looking for a list, just a discussion of how to fluff out a list like this, and on some interesting strategies for a combined chaos/nid team. Ex: Using Ahriman as a spawn factory : set up a cheap gant squad w without number and have him turn them into spawn perpetually, thats max 3/turn charging off towards the enemy. Neat but kind of expensive. Phalanxing PM's in front of Stealers, so the steales cna fleet throughthe lines for the charge... LashPrince pulling powerful units inot haord charge range... more ideas? As for fluff, either a chaos warband that has captured a powerful synapse creature and is controlling the nids (unlikely) or a warband that has been infiltrated by a genestealer cult, the hq has fallen under control of the stealers etc... the jeske
well nids are no longer the best army in the game so teaming up with them is maybe not the wisest thing to do . But maybe a normal nids [6MC stealers regular list for tournaments ] could work . But the eldar/eldar combo with double eldrad and the 4 lash army with 18 oblits are really tough to beat . At least you dont have to worry about the death korps of krieg and its hellifire mortar spam armies . chillin
Your first two strategies are illegal. 1- you can not spawn friendly models 2- one unit can not run through another. - You could look for a trick pony, but I would suggest just making a hth csm army since you are paired w/ nids, just overwhelm your opponents in hth. screen his GS's w/ your rinos. The opponents hvy weops will prob be shot at his MC's and should let your rinos get there. Hit the opponents w/ lotsa csm, brzrkrs, GS, maybe even summoned daemons. Playa
Hey, the eldar/eldar combo with double eldrad and the 4 lash army with 18 oblits are really tough to beat LOL @Jeske! Your occasional butchery of the English language cannot hide the fact that there is nothing wrong with your thinking! Never change, buddy. 8- D @OP: I'd take Stealer hordes to supplement Marines on my side *any* day. But, there's a trick to that combo: All of those Stealers will Fleet, and few CSM Units can hope to keep up, so your army's role *must* be Support. Your guys are going to be late to the party, but there are steps that you can take to mitigate this somewhat - Throw sacrificial Fast Units forward to draw fire from the scuttling horde, and defend your own DZ with some HS. Meanwhile, quietly move everything else into midfield positions to claim turf/ deny lanes/ set-up some counterassaults. No matter what the other side fields, if you defend your DZ and screen those Stealers all the way into CC, your side will win! The toughest of these Fast Units (Bikes, LRs) should include Icons to slingshot your Termi, Raptor and Obliterator squads forward. Everything you've got that has a 12in Mv should be in this first wave, howling like Sgt. Fury's Commandos to distract attention from the Stealers. Throw the nearest forward Unit on any enemy Interceptors to let your Allied Stealers slide by - this sounds counter-intuitive, but hear me out. Savvy opponents will attempt to tie the Stealers up short of their own DZ/HQs, but don't let them - that's why your Fast Units are sacrificial. You may lose most of these initial Combats, but you must still fight them in order to win the Battle ... The second those Broods get stuck-in, whatever is left of your army can advance in support, but by this point it will all be over - but their crying. Your opponents' gleeful chuckles at how easily they're decimating your army will quickly stop once your Uberfighty Allies get up in their grilles! At some point, it will occur to them that they've been played. The look on their faces when this realization hits is worth all the trouble. ;- ) Just don't forget your Side's overall strategy in the heat of battle, and your combined Nid CC + CSM Shooters should easily prevail. Good luck, and have fun! Playa Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139318-team-tournament-pre-planning/#findComment-1609559 Share on other sites
Maladon
1700 points per player isn't 3200 points per side, its 3400points. I'd use Abaddon with 10 terminators, no lashes and three wraithlords(JK). :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139318-team-tournament-pre-planning/#findComment-1609567 Share on other sites
