feuer_faust
Howdy folks. After re-organizing and consolidated my 95%-finished Retributors, I realised that I not only had a handful of unused Chaos minis, but a good number of loyalist minis that I wouldn't use but could use as Chaos. So, reviving my old project to make a Chaos Army, I see what I had and what I needed... My Loyalists The Retributors I run are shooty and use a fair number of vehicles; in a given game I have 3-5 vehicles fulfilling various roles. I usually run a Master or Chaplain, almnost never a librarian. This is a fun setup, and doesn't do too bad in games. My Chaos With the above in mind, I figured that this Chaos army should be a different experience: assault-oriented, with nifty tricks like demon summoning and psychic powers. What I Have So, this is what I have at my disposal, put into "list" form (all chaos marines can be considered to have bolters, bolt pistols, and close combat weapons): 1 "Lord" - he's a converted marines I did for fun once with a power fist, power weapon, skulls and such. Figure he could be a stand-in for a Demon Weapon-wielding Lord for now. 10 Marines, 7 standard, 2 with meltauns, a champion with powerfist and bolt pistol 10 Marines, 7 standard, 1 with plasmagun, 1 with plasma pistol, 1 champion with plasma pistol and power weapon. 2 units of 7 "Lesser demons"- These are WIP and are converted scouts, representing cheap mercenaries and mutants. 5 terminators, 3 have combi-bolters and power weapons, 1 has a combi-melta and powerfist, another has a reaper autocanon and a chainfist 1 Vindicator 1 Predator with both an autocanon turret and a twin-lascannon turret, and heavy bolter sponsons. Aside from this, I have a missle launcher marine, two flamer marines, and a melta-gunner bike marine. Your Input So, I'm trying to decide where to go from here. My first instinct is to get a handful of bikes to run around with (now that they have BP/CCW), and convert some assault marines into Raptors. Should I look into a Demon Prince? This army will have the ragtag mercenary feel, but if one of the crazier marine warbands wants to invite Uncle Demon prince... woudla nybody say any different? Ideas? EDIT: "Mercenary" is a poor word choice. I meant the aesthetic is more "kitted out." Like... a guy will have soem pouches, a knife or two, that sort of thing. The actual work ethic is up in the air, as "Random Merc Chaos" is somewhat overdone these days... ^_^ It's feasible to having a roaming band of bad-asses simply praying to whatever god works at the time, Black legion style. chillin
with the way your lord is armed and the fact that you have lotsa s/m's converted to csm's, you should do red corsairs . As to what to get next, I would go with the raptors, their price makes them better then bikes. Also you really need some rinos. Deneris
My ChaosWith the above in mind, I figured that this Chaos army should be a different experience: assault-oriented, with nifty tricks like demon summoning and psychic powers. That spawned two ideas in my head, both using your ideas of "Mercs"/Goons for hire: Assault-oriented: Led by Fabius Bile, the force represents his "experiments" from different planets that also serve as a bodyguard/catalog ("See this fine unit of super-strong marines? They can be yours for one low price..." ) as well as a raiding force when Bile needs new... subjects/arcane genetech. Nifty tricks include squads of Bile's augmented marines and possibly "organic" raptors (Wings as opposed to jump packs). Obliterators might also be some of his "works". Psychic Powers: Led by Ahriman, the force represents his hired guns for when he raids libraries and such for their contained knowledge. Nifty tricks include Thousand Sons (and their AP3 bolters) and as many sorcerers as you can squeeze in... Julgolax
My ChaosWith the above in mind, I figured that this Chaos army should be a different experience: assault-oriented, with nifty tricks like demon summoning and psychic powers My good sir, I have just the force in mind :teehee:. Now, it is not official or anything but, with a mark of Tzeetch comprising their warband insignia (meaning they are sorcerous) and since chaos is in itself much more assault oriented than space marines, I present to you, the fire wielding/manipulating, sorcerous warband of... THE DRAGON WARRIORS! http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee263/HM_Cassius/DragonWarriorsPauldron.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee263/HM_Cassius/DragonWarriorsTerminator.jpg Of course there are other choices but, honastly, how cool are the D.W. ? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139384-ere-we-go/#findComment-1611830 Share on other sites
