DIY Chapter WIP stuff (Pic Heavy)

Recommended Posts

Here is some of my WIP stuff from my DIY chapter, the Dragon's Scars. They follow White Scar doctrine but aren't quite as hard to paint haha. Enjoy!

More Coming Soon to a theater near you....

Thanks bud. I know my painting isn't the cleanest but I'm learning.

He is an SM biker with chaplain parts, and even some parts from WHFB (check the "dragon ears" on the side of his helmet, and his shield).

I'm extremely proud of him and he is the one guy in my army that people always compliment and want to take a closer look at (though I've heard "Khornate" more than once haha).

Ah, I thought you meant Red and White haha. :)

Yeah, my CM, Libby, and sergeants of my squads all have that piece on the rear. Helps defines them on the battlefield and I haven't found anything better to fit in yet to do so. I do agree that the feathered aspect of them is a little in contrast with the scales and webbing of a dragon.

*lol* Nooo! The Red&White is great! :P I'm just not sure the dragon+feathers thing works. It's a little too much. Isn't there any other High Elf or Dark Elf or Bretonnian or Vampire Counts dragon bitz you could use? Some bannerpole or helmet-crest or someting that would work better than the bird-wings? Just a thought. :P

I thought about using some dragon wings but they all curve up and out, are too large, or wouldn't fit right onto the back.

Maybe I will try and make a post with some small wings (like from a fury or something) popping out of the back.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the feathers but it was all there was at the time. :P

Yea, those would probably be a bit too large. Also they are asymetrical which would probably look wierd too, with just one of them on the back of the bike. How about some sort of backbanner? Like one of those asian/samurai (my knowledge of asian history is limited, so anyone please correct me if I'm wrong) things, but in the shape of a dragon wing? Should be really easy to do with just the backbanner-pole from any marine sprue.

The fury wings could work but they too are asymetrical. Maybe as some sort of decoration for larger vehicles though! My friend (MrManson here on B&C) made these dragon-themed furies for his CSM-army while playing with the previous codex (where there still were furies):

Lesser Daemons (They used to be Furies, hence the wings. The lizard-/dragon-theme was something running in my old Codex-army.)

Might give you some inspiration for statue-type things to use as objective markers or land-raider-decorations or such things... :P

Oh, you mean on the front. Well how's about decapitating some nighlords? Those wings would be the right shape and size... :D Or maybe if you are feeling adventurous, you could greenstuff dragon-wings on the front. Or use plasticard. That could work.

Here's a doodle I just made of what I meant the banner on the back would look like. Seen from the side of course. I think this would also tie in nicely with your primogenitor chapter's whole mongolian/asian theme. gallery_5376_2346_114110.png

EDIT: Spelling.

That would definitely look very good. I'll have to give it a shot!

@Race Bannon: Thanks bud. I have to admit he's darn near useless for me almost every game as he's a super points sink and always seems to get shot up by indirect fire, but I love him. :D

The Librarian on bike has Fear the Darkness so I use him as a mobile fear bomb. Shoulda seen the time I made a whole squad of my opponent's harlies start running away, he stomped me that game but a look of pure fear crossed his face as he watched his killer clowns make their way towards the boards edge. :P

I love the use of that dragon head and neck on his shield... beautiful. I have been looking for dragon themed items from other sources to use with my Imperial Dragons, but somehow missed that piece. Overall, nice converting and a top notch paint job.

Thanks :) :)

The painting isn't finished yet unfortunately. I may get rid of his lance and give him a power sword, I need to clean up his face a lot and add some highlights, and I haven't painted in his eyes yet so they're still black. Gonna be ice blue / royal blue when all said and done (The eyes, that is).

Also need to edge highlight his bike a little more.

Glad you like!

I agree...maybe I can find some on-line cheaper. That's too much for a few bikes.

Yea, I totaly understand that. Try finding some online, like you said. Alternatively you could buy those from GW for 25 USD and sell the shoulderpads and other stuff online. Oh well. Best of luck to ya! Keep up the good work!

/Angerforce.

They be cool

I especially love your libby

I'm robbing the painting idea...

1 blue arm instead of the whole model being blue,

it's a great idea =]

Thanks, I like him too..he actually had a fu man chu moustache made out of green stuff but it fell off haha. I have been considering putting a mask over his mouth and nose, sort of middle eastern raider style, or just putting the moustache back on. Though he doesn't look bad as he is.

My opponents do their best to get rid of him early, psychic fear and a force weapon on a bike scares a lotta people.
