Prot
I'm finalizing a list as I have completed assembling about 750 points of my Alpha Legion. What I'm trying to figure out is what people might think is a good HQ for Alpha. The list is actually right HERE if you want to have a look at the overall theme. But I'm thinking the Alpha HQ should be stealthy (?) or at least... quick to respond. In keeping with the theme of manipulation, or covert tactics, I thought Lash would be great because it signifies a manipulation of the other army's tactics. Does anyone have any thoughts on effectively putting this kind of idea into an army? As I said in my army list post, I'm a bit hesitant to go with a Daemon Prince. It's just so... 'in your face'. It may be highly effective, but not really subtle if you know what I mean. So I'm stuck on a suitable HQ for the Alpha. Thoughts? DaemonPrinceDargor
I say go for a Sorcerer instead of a DP.You can model him as an AL captain/lord and he can have a Lash to represent his manipulations and schemes. So hes not a sorcerer per se but rather an expert manipulator, just in the spirit of AL. Kalrik
It appears, and people correct me if I'm wrong, that in 5th edition after deployment you can place an IC with a squad, so you can actually have your IC join your infiltrated Chosen squad, eliminating need for a mode of transportation for him, furthermore it will probably be acceptable to infiltrate him with terminator armor, so that makes lords and sorcers even more flexible. I personally am going to use a Power Armored Tz Marked Lord with Daemonweapon modeled like an impressive gun I enjoy 4++ saves a lot =) attach him to my chosen, and have some fun! Seahawk
The correcting shall commence! While you can begin the game joined with a unit by being in coherency with them, if the unit/character has a special rule and the unit/character joined does not, they are not conferred upon each other. Indeed, the example given is if a "character without infiltrate joins a unit of infiltrators during deployment, the unit cannot infiltrate." So far as the character goes, I like the idea of the sorceror. He's clearly on a private channel to the enemy unit's leader, telling him to go just such a way... feuer_faust
The sorcerer thing sounds pretty appropriate, due to the lack of veteran skills in today's CSM. Thanks! thats something I was trying to get verified, and haven't gotten my hands on new book yet. Prot
Sorcerer sounds good for Alpha, especially with Lash. Now to figure out the configuration. In 5th I believe it says something about being within a certain distance means you auto-join that squad. This could make things very tricky for Lash because that means the whole squad would have to target the same squad. In other words, I wanted to Lash squad 'A' away from me, and possibly shoot squad 'B'. I won't be able to do that if I'm not very careful with the Sorcerer. So sorcerer with lash, but with a bike? Sounds survivable and quick to react. With jump pack? Probably cheaper... I'll think about it. I think a Termie won't be survivable enough, or quick enough to react to the opponent. DaemonPrinceDargor
Bike would be nice BUT with him not joining a unit would mean quick and brual death with the new LoS rules...If you want him mobile but still be able to join units i would get a steed of Slaanesh that gives him an extra attack and makes him Cavalry.Dunno how you could model it but it can represent him knowing the place of the ambush(cause lets face it,its always the AL laying an ambush for someone) very well, maybe moving through unknown underground tunnels to reach his enemy.
