davethebear
i've got an idea for a renegade chapter that i will definatelty collect but there's a big spanner in the works. the colour scheme is copper, 'beaten copper' specifically, but this colour is no longer produced by GW. the closest they have is tin bitz, does any one know how to mix up beaten copper? ps-if i can't find a recipie i'll have to struggle to come up with a new one. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139673-gears-of-war-renegades/ Share on other sites
Lion in the Stars
OK, you can either use Vallejo Game Color "Hammered Copper" or you can use one of the P3 metals. Molten Bronze or Blighted Gold would be your best bet, although Blighted Gold is rather green. The Vallejo Game Colors are almost an exact match for the GW paints of a similar name, although they don't necessarily change color the same way when you add white. Either way, you need to play with the paints a bit. The Vallejo colors are very thin, and don't cover very well. They do allow you to work up to much better layered highlights, though. The P3 metals have been a bit off, generally far too thick to paint properly. My first bottle of 'Brass Balls' took 40 drops of Reaper Flow Improver before it flowed properly, and all the P3 metals need to gave a glass marble dropped in for a shaker. Brass Balls is especially bad about settling, my bottle takes about 15-20 minutes of continuous shaking to be usable. Personally, I'd try putting Brass Balls over a red basecoat, or using a red wash to stain the Brass to a more coppery color.
