Drudge Dreadnought
What's your favorite sort of terminator squad and why? Do you actually use it in your lists, or is it more for fun? My favorite is a 5 man squad with Lightning Claws Champion, Icon of Tzeentch, 1 power or chain fist, 1 heavy flamer, 3 combi plasma. costs 235-240. I like the icon of tzeentch because it moves them to a +4 invul save making them much safer from the heavy weapons that are going to target them. I prefer combi plasma to melta because it can still kill light armor, and kills twice as many enemy terminators, or other heavy/high save units. With this squad they can normally deepstrike and destroy a squad with shooting, then wipe out another squad on the next turn. I run atleast 1 of these squads and somtimes 2, often with a wind+warptime tzeentch sorc lord attached. Pricey, but almost always kills their points or makes it possible for other units to kill additional points equal to the cost of the terminators. Brother Nihm
I use this setup + combi-plasma: link Or 2x3 with Combi's as suicide units. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/140947-your-favorite-terminator-config/#findComment-1628997 Share on other sites
the jeske
240 pts is way to much pts spent on a unit specially now that they are no longer scoring . 2x3 plasma naked load out is optimal and cheap. DuskRaider
I use 7, 6x combi-plasma and a reaper autocannon. You can get the jump on the big nasties quick and they easily make their points back in kills. King Tiger
I've always loved the basic 5 power weapons and Combi Bolters, nothing else, great against infantry Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/140947-your-favorite-terminator-config/#findComment-1629073 Share on other sites
maniclurker
I faced a chaos guy the other day that packed a 10 termy squad with 2 reapers, 2 meltas, and 6 plasma. That woulda been something fierce if he wasn't so scared of my vindi that he didn't come any close to my army to use that crap. chillin
When I do take termi's it's a 5 man squad, no champs, no icons, 2-3 combi meltas and a CF, and a hvy flamer or a reaper depending on how I plan on using them and the pts I have. Maladon
Optimal squad- 5 terminators with one RAC, no combi weapons or AC's= 175 pts. This configuration works well for me, so I'm staying with what works. Though for a future word bearers army(and in only large point battles) I'll up it to twelve terminators in one squad. Mr.(Space)Marine
Well theres either the combi-flamer unit of fiery doom, or the plasmary unit of doom. Take the flamer unit if doom (all equpped with combi-flamers save for heavy flamer guy, otherwise customised however you feel like) and deep strike in the middle of a horde army. In the new objective missions, they make the enemy either charge you or ignore you to move towards the objectives, and since their destruction doesn't count towards your opponents score, it doesn't matter if they get destroyed. You only need 'em for that one fell swoop. The combi-plasma unit fo doom is similar to Nihm's suggestion. Roultox
3 Deep Strike Terminators: 2 Combi-Meltas, 1 Heavy Flamer, 1 Powerfist I used to run three of those units deep striking, here's what they do, very often. Against SoB, they wiped 6 repentia before getting charged, killing a few more then dying. Against Imperial Guard, two different Term Units wiped a basilisk(Indirect) and a leman russ, while towards the end, charging his troops, we called it a victory, playing further would just reveal the slaughter of more-marines-then-guardsmen could perform. Against Tyranids they wiped 9 hormagaunts, and then proceeded to wipe the rest when they were charged. Against marines, they wiped a land raider, and then got charged by the command inside, while focusing attacks, his force commander died to a powerfist. This is from what I remember. Melta+Flamer units keeps me happy and deep strike is like making them my version of land speeders. Aarhus
Lord Cythkaras n'Chekha Mark of Nurgle, Terminator Armour, Combi-Melta, Plaguebringer 170pts Miasma of Pestilence Six Terminators, Icon of Nurgle, Combi-Melta x4, Heavy Flamer, Chainfist x3, Power Weapon x2 Duchy of Chekha - Twin Lightning Claws 325pts Total 495pts It keeps with the fluff of the Sacred Seven. The lord is there for modelling purposes. It was my first conversion I'm happy with as a modeler (as opposed to the dreadnought arm that was a Scenery Barrel with a speeder Multi-Melta glued right to the front of it...) He's got Archaon on foot's... well, bottom half, and obliterator top half, and various bits 'n pieces for arms. Once he's finished (not likely soon, I'm actually taking my time on this guy), I'll post pics. As for the retinue, that's what I've fluffed out in my head as a proper 'retinue' for him. Cheers, Lawrence. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/140947-your-favorite-terminator-config/#findComment-1629583 Share on other sites
The Branded
Nurgle with RA and some P-fists, usually as an escort for a lord is advisable. Heavy Flamer if it goes in a LR. davidren2401
I play mine more for fun/looking good then for their tactical value (Although when they get then drop on an expensive 4+ armour save squad like Fire Dragons they are a sight to behold) Anyways: 5 terminators, 2 champions, 2 combi meltas, icon of chaos glory, heavy flamer, powerfist, chainfist http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...i&img=17650 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/140947-your-favorite-terminator-config/#findComment-1630970 Share on other sites
