Antarticus
Recently I dug out my old Space Wolves models from from way back when I was playind 2nd Ed., stripped them of paint and began putting them back together. Now I wasn't all thats satisfied with the army itself (old 'dex and boring models), but I had no idea if I really wanted to get back into it. So last week I bought the 5th Ed. and read the tale of the Wolf of Fenris in a friend's Chaos 'dex. I thought that some Chaos Wolves would look great ... but as far as putting together an army ... heck, I haven't played since the early days of the 2nd Ed. Anyone has any suggestions as far as what would make such an army look cool and work? I love to paint and modify individual marines, so I thought of having a large force ... led by Huron? He's the one they work for now, isn't it? Any ideas or comments would be welcome. Thanks, Matt Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141447-chaos-wolves/ Share on other sites
DuskRaider
I remember in the old 3.5 'dex, the Red Corsairs they had illustrated actually WERE Space Wolves, just their Imperial logos X'd out. You could go that route. I'd paint them something to show their origins. tuebor
In the new Chaos book there's a picture of "Skyrar's Dark Wolves", noted as being close combat specialists sighted in the Fenris sector on page 24. You could go with something like this. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141447-chaos-wolves/#findComment-1635308 Share on other sites
Deneris
In the August White dwarf there are some rather good looking Space Wolves painted in the colors of the Red Corsairs. Far as I can tell he used a mix of SW and CSM plastic bits to do them... I'd LOVE to see a few more renegade Wolves :D ... Dosadi
I've done just that with my renegade Space Wolves. I'm using them as Berserkers in my Red Corsairs. Parts from the CSM sprue, the berserker sprue and the space wolf sprue. I also used running legs from the assault marine. I'll post pics of them when they are painted. psychoplatypus
Haha, you wish. ;) Actually if you look at the chaos codex it mentions a group of traitor space wolves helped Huron Blackheart take control of a space wolve strike cruiser. Space wolves are nice and barbaric enough as it is, so it should be easy to add a few spikes and skulls here and there to make them evil. the jeske
Wouldn't it be fun if we Chaos folks could push them the rest of the way thats sarcasm or your doing this IC , because before that one short story [that goes against a lot what have been write about wolfs before , about their pack mentality , how they view chaos and how they test their aspirants . how a space wolf works and what influence on sw wolf priest have and a lot more ] they were singular mentions of sm from sw going over to chaos [and most of those not in stories but in work of the hvy metal studio] . whats more interesting even other there arent so many space marines of all chapters , that turn to chaos all of the sudden . whole chapters ? yes . singular sm ? yes . squads out of a fighting units ? never . besides as this story has the mark of thorpe on it , one can only ask why didnt the sw blow the ship up [a thing that is normally done in such situation] . all they needed to for that is a sm overloading his pack near/inside the engine block . But as I said before as much stupid and bad this story is , its official and all players have to live with that . Its not better then the a happy chaos family we get in the new dex . Antarticus
I don't mean to bring the topic back to what the post was originally about (there are quite a few rants about why the SW are too awesome to turn to chaos in the SW section ...), but anyone has any ideas how I could convert my wulven into possessed marines? Other than just switching heads or arms? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141447-chaos-wolves/#findComment-1636826 Share on other sites
Lone Scout
Spacewolf players lament, the dribble that is "Wolf of Fenris"has been immortilised in the pages of WD. Yes traitor wolves are featured in A Tale of Four Gamers, and I was hoping the story would just fade away like a bad dream. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141447-chaos-wolves/#findComment-1655260 Share on other sites
Roultox
Dont forget the red corsairs are more 'pirate' then 'chaos'. One of those factions that views chaos as an addition, an aid so to say treating the cults like mercenaries rather then significant zealots of deities.... Much like Iron Warriors and Alpha Legion. The wolves turned traitor, but they didnt turn fully chaos. Its a gray area... Get it? har... Firenze
Sweet... Chaos Wolves... I want to get some to annoy my friend (Vassakov of this board) and my bro. Other than just switching heads or arms? Perhaps use a few Wulfen models, and add a few of the new plastic Possessed models to the squad with the same color scheme. Mix, and serve. Or... Simply use the Wulfen as is- They DO already look daemonic :). May his bones be found with teeth makes in them !!!! :P Huron isn't be definition general definition a Chaos worshipper. The Red Corsairs are very much like the Night Lords or the Alpha Legion, they are Renegades and Pirates but not so much Daemon lovers. Now considering the fact that Wolf Lords are normally running off with their Great Companies (ie disagreements between the Great Wolf and the Wolf Lord can lead to splits for certain periods of time) it's not hard to see a number of Wolves wanting to go Rogue themselves and joining up with Huron's lot. TheDarkApostle
i dont read the old dex anymore to not feel sad. Then I'll quote the passage for you; "Lufgt Huron renamed himself Huron Blackheart and his Chapter the Red Corsairs, and sold his soul to the undivided power of Chaos. To this day, many of those few Space Marines who tragically fall to the lure of Chaos are to be found within the ranks of the Red Corsairs, embittered and twisted by the evil power of Chaos..." Underlines are my own for emphasis on IMO important parts of the text. So, as you can see it would appear that Huron is closer to a Chaos worshipper then just a simple renegade. ;) TDA Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141447-chaos-wolves/#findComment-1659768 Share on other sites
