ABSOLUTELY EXCELLIENT! Zeer koel! Très frais! Sehr kühl! Πολύ δροσερός! Molto freddo! 非常に涼しい! 아주 차가운! Muito fresco! Очень холодно! ¡Muy fresco!

Dude... you really shouldn't try making word for word translations into languages you know nothing about... <_<

Nice desktop my man!

Overall it's excellent. I think the extreme white around the skull needs to go. I understand wanting a sharp highlight. However the way it's currently done it detracts from the realism you are reaching for and promotes a "stamped" look. Looking at the lighting across the image you can see it fall across at a very slight angle, (5-10 degrees or so?). The lighting around the skull comes from either side, perpendicular to that main stream of light, and and a brightness not seen elsewhere in the image. Fixing that would really bring the image up in professionalism.

Like mentioned above, the web address doesn't cut it. The kerning is strange but it's also an afterthought to the degree that it damages the overall look. I would say take the time to get some text nicely done. That's not to say that it needs to be fully 3D and worked up the same as the main image, but make it look like a part of the overall image through color, depth, shading, better placement.

Nice work

Thank you for the kind remarkes eeryone, and Im glad people are liking and using it. :D

the only thing bad about it is the bright blur badly spaced www.bolterandchainsword down the side

other than that its flawless to be honest

Just wondering what you mean by blur. – Is it somehow bright and blurry, because it wasn't meant to be; but as people have different colour and gamma settings on their screens it is sometimes hard to tell.

I made the wallpaper on a colour calibrated crt screen, but I've also tested it on other machines, and on the one I am on now the wallpaper looks quite rubbish really, while at work and my graphics machine it looks pretty good.

Wow. I didn't realise it was a painting at first glance.
Glad to hear that! :P

Very nice work. Excellent use of colours and the weathering just adds to the effect. Awesome.
Again, Im glad to hear it.

The B&C colours are indeed a good combo and that I cannot take credit for, but I have introduced a few more neuances and just a tad more to the colour spectrum of it, to make it come alive more. Weathering also always seems to help, so Im glad it worked to good effect.

Nice work

Thank you very much for the insightful review -Q-! :)

Im afraid I wont be removing the white now, as Im done with this image, but I will be sure to keep my eye open for blown out whites in the future.

As fr how many degrees the light is falling at, I really havent thought that much about it. I've basically thought a bit about where the light is coming from, but as is evident there are many sources of light at work here.

How many sources or angles and such I havent really thought about, as that is something I would do if I was making a 3d image, but Im still training my eye for these things in 2d.

As for the text, I must admit that it was a bit of an afterthought.

I was originally thinking about doing the B&C logo writing to, but decided the logo sat well enough on its own and that the writing would just attract attention away from the B&C's nice skull&bones logo.

Now that you mention it, the letter spacing is strange. – That will teach me to trust leaving it on auto!

I will be sure to check closer for this in the future. – Argh! :pinch:
