the_cheat137
Greetings brothers and sisters! I've been an on and off participant in the forum for a while, and now I would like to introduce you to my Sisters of the Steadfast Heart. Please bear with me though as I try to efficiently move photos from my camera, to an internet host, and then over here to the B&C. Right now I just want to present a few of my completed squads and vehicles, so critique on paint and modeling is more than welcome! Perhaps later will come an army list for criticism and discussion, and even later some story to go along with the Sisters. Until then, looking forward to hearing comments and suggestions! First, here is a nearing-completion Canoness. who will (hopefully) be the centerpiece for the army! http://bp1.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUCZ3vHfoI/AAAAAAAAAA0/mlvlRwQW7VY/s400/DSC00736.JPG And two Seraphim Squads: http://bp2.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUCbmuZAbI/AAAAAAAAABU/Xg-lpB6yXDw/s400/DSC00739.JPG http://bp1.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUFB8cToGI/AAAAAAAAABc/Vi3uErDv824/s400/DSC00740.JPG A couple Rhino Transports so the girls' heels don't get tired: http://bp3.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUFCnASrZI/AAAAAAAAABs/yXY6dKv07AU/s400/DSC00742.JPG http://bp3.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUFC_-FvvI/AAAAAAAAAB0/aiHVxbG1dng/s400/DSC00743.JPG And of course some new objective markers to match the brand-new fifth edition! http://bp1.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUCaPW6vbI/AAAAAAAAAA8/FlWCQHQ44Tw/s400/DSC00735.JPG http://bp2.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUFCA_3TEI/AAAAAAAAABk/eOMomHDT1zc/s400/DSC00741.JPG A Celestian Squad and their fearless leader! http://bp3.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUFDVuDVaI/AAAAAAAAAB8/Qj28okIrTpY/s400/DSC00744.JPG http://bp1.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUFT5uHi-I/AAAAAAAAACE/DQKsuMVhE7k/s400/DSC00745.JPG And lastly (for now) the pride of Canoness Constancia Le Bethune, the Baneblade-class tank Alba Phoebus http://bp2.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUCaiL9nmI/AAAAAAAAABE/64vO_tW6hZ8/s400/DSC00737.JPG http://bp0.blogger.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SIUCbAQZxjI/AAAAAAAAABM/7S1P6NQRU3c/s400/DSC00738.JPG I'll try to get some more information up sooner rather than later, looking forward to hearing some comments! flintlocklaser
Dang, looking very very nice! Would you be willing to share your technique for getting that nice clean white? I keep hearing how bad it is to paint and my upcoming White Scars are getting nervous, heh. edit: punctuation was all kerblooey Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141618-sisters-of-the-steadfast-heart/#findComment-1637225 Share on other sites
Tfcdogbert
I dont get the objective markers :P, is there a reason beind it or is it just fan service. Loving the cannoness, i would have gone for a dirty white or very pale blue plumage, or perhaps pale yellow, they are after all wings of faith not actual physical malformations. Otherwise, the two rhinos are good, and very good on you for getting rid of seraphims flying bases, they really look appaling when left on. Overall very well painted. Order of the Argent Shroud
I agree, those sisters look awesome. I didn't know that The SoB could have a Baneblade! Can we get it at the IG points tag? ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141618-sisters-of-the-steadfast-heart/#findComment-1637378 Share on other sites
the_cheat137
Yeah, the objective markers are totally all fan service. But come on, who wouldn't want to capture those objectives? As for the wings, that's a good suggestion. I gave that some thought, since it would look neat to have ghostly or more angelic wings. The problem I see is that if the wings are dirty white or pale blue then they would be effectively the same color as the armor, and that would take a lot of definition away from the model. I could see yellow, I think it should be deep yellow, to be able to still contrast the wings with the armor. Now I wish I had another set of wings to test that out, hm. Would you be willing to share your technique for getting that nice clean white? Absolutely! And to be honest, it's not actually my technique, so thanks for reminding me to credit my source! You can find a great tutorial on painting white vehicles and power armor here: Painting Textured White To summarize the method, it's a white basecoat, brown wash, many layers of white, and then blacklining. It's one of the more time-consuming vehicle hull painting methods I've used, but a very nice uniform result. And it leaves a great textured white with no brush strokes! I didn't know that The SoB could have a Baneblade! Can we get it at the IG points tag? happy.gif Haha, well in Apocalypse you can field combinations of whatever you want! To represent Battle Sister crew, my local gaming group have added 75 points to the cost to make it BS4. the_Armyman
Good-looking army, cheat! White is not an easy color to pull off, especially on large surfaces such as vehicles. The only criticism I would have is your choice of a metallic for the edges of your bases. I think it distracts the eye a bit from your hard work. A black or neutral edge would help to bring the focus back up to your minis. WarriorFish
Really like those girls, that's a good white! I'll be trying it out when I get some time. So far I've been "cheating" and using Elf Grey, but alas that is long OOP so I'm running on borrowed time there  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141618-sisters-of-the-steadfast-heart/#findComment-1638406 Share on other sites
Imperator Mos
Great looking Sororitas you have there. Paint scheme is solid, and your conversions are original too. My favorite model is the (Palatine?) with the Celestians. Haven't seen any one besides myself take the time to carve the shield off the Crusader. Wings on Celestine is always great too. My only question is where's the Exorcists and Retributors? the_cheat137
Thanks for the encouraging feedback there! I do indeed own three exorcists, and they have served the Order of the Steadfast Heart well in many battles. They are currently under remodelling and repainting, however I will try to get them ready for display sooner rather than later. There are also Retributors, a full sized squad, although further down on the to-do list from the Exorcists. As a service to Armyman's suggestion, I will do the bases on the next man-sized miniatures a neutral, maybe stone, color, and we can all see how they compare. the_cheat137
Ok, no exorcists or retributors, but I have just finished a Land Raider (kind of like an exorcist) and two inquisitorial henchmen. As usual, C&C welcome; I'd especially like to hear if anyone has a preference between the old gold bases or the new neutral bases, even though there are only two of them so far. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SKxr5oJY8qI/AAAAAAAAACc/y_w3XzGipQs/s400/DSC00747.JPG http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SKxr5K0OENI/AAAAAAAAACU/60L9gtlszIU/s400/DSC00748.JPG This fellow here serves the Inquisitor Beatriz le Bethune as a wide-eyed crazy mystic: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SKxs_FexE2I/AAAAAAAAACs/lllwXaSHtdY/s400/DSC00750.JPG And this guy will be used as either a Hierophant or an Acolyte. As an aside, if anyone knows what this miniature is actually from, I'd be glad to know just to sate my curiosity. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1yjZKhg6xo8/SKxs-7nNsyI/AAAAAAAAACk/O0gsXFmPE6E/s400/DSC00751.JPG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141618-sisters-of-the-steadfast-heart/#findComment-1669854 Share on other sites

Thraxius
Damn your for such a Clean White, and indeed those Golden Bases are bit distracting but hey they can be use as an easy way of Squad marking. PD: Need to know from where are those Objective Markers! Ive been hunting those models for the same thing for some time now. the_cheat137
I can't exactly remember where they are from, since they were acquired at a Bizarre Bazaar, but I believe they are Dark Eldar Slave Girls from the Dais of Destruction. Oh, here they are, I'll just post a linky so you can see them on GW's own site: Dark Eldar Prisoners Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141618-sisters-of-the-steadfast-heart/#findComment-1675318 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
Not to mention that 1 of those slave girls is actually a SoB. The pic on the box show her with a fleur de lis (not entirely sure how its spelled) on every pic. the_cheat137
Well, I've been painting WHFB and some Ultramarines which has kept me from the Sisters, but recently I came on back to the girls and updated the army a bit. Mostly, there's a modified paint scheme with more metallics to break up what I thought was too much white, all neutral bases rather than bronze, a (hopefully) more angelic Canoness, and some neat new special and heavy weapons! The next project will be either a full Seraphim squad in the new colors or a requisitioned Valkyrie. These girls give me enough to do neat things like mix in full squads of 20 Battle Sisters along with their Rhino-riding sisters. Nobody's infantry wants to come near whatever forest or building they're garrisoning! Please leave any comments or suggestions, particularly on the new darker parts of the armor! Sister Rosette Soulknyt
That is some seriously good painting and conversions. The white you have done puts a few of us to shame i have to say, its smooth and defined. As for your Baneblade technically yes you can have one too, hey i have one in progress of conversions and painting. So many added little pieces to go yet for that SoB look. Well i have to say job well done, keep us posted on your progress. Oh and Celestine's wings i agree a lighter colour would suit better. But if you like it dont change it ok, everyone has there own style. the_cheat137
Check out the Battle Sisters link in my last post, i forgot to ask something: what do you think of the bolters? hidje
what do you think of the bolters? I gave them some more contrasting colors to help them pop out a little more. Eeh, to be honest I didden't notice the bolter's different colour until you mentioned it ;) But I'm not completely sure if the it's the camera's fault, or it is you who didn't higlight it enough (imho that is:p) As for the rest I totally love those blue flames, and the white armour is (as mentionned by many before me) really aces :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/141618-sisters-of-the-steadfast-heart/#findComment-1965089 Share on other sites

Quasarcq
I used the piece from the henchmen you used on your HF for my Brazier of Holy fire, But that's a good use for it too! Did you green stuff a cloak on that VSS? also looks like a moded SM power pack or an old one. Looks great. I have a few sisters with missing back backs so this gives me ideas for a solution since there is not bits order any more. Nice job on doing white armor. Everything stands out and must look really good on the table. Thanks for sharing and the update. ...out of curiosity, where did you get the models for those obj Markers? To represent Battle Sister crew, my local gaming group have added 75 points to the cost to make it BS4. actually, if you look at the BolS datasheet for the fellblade (the space marine version of a baneblade) the point cost is 100 points to give all weapons BS4, not 75 pts, but if thats what your shop agreed to then fine by me. i will have to give you props for your great paint job. i am currently working on getting my sisters painted and all right now and will plan on posting them too. i quick question, where did you get the wings for your saint? i noticed you gave the saints cape to your seraphim squad, and the halo to your the celestian squad. and thanks to the link and your paint job, i am going to pick up a few slaves to paint and use as objectives and such, they look amazing. the_cheat137
The saint's wings are from the WFB Bretonnian Pegasus. I had earlier used griffon wings, but they were a bit too large, as you can see in the earlier saint.
