Drudge Dreadnought
What's the general opinion on running your own units with the stats of special characters? For example the Lord of your DIY warband using the stats of Khârn or Abbadon or lucius or whoever? Somtimes people want a unit but can't justify it fluffwise, so just steal its stats or make do with the generic lords/sorcs? Cornelias
i use the huron rules to represent a dark mechanicus adept, he's modelled using an iron warriors warsmith backpack( his powerfist), a techmarine axe heavily converted and the other hand has a flamer head to replace the hand( start of the obliterator virus) and a little robot dog from necromunda to represent the hamadrya. works pretty well and i've had no complaints so far :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142081-proxying-characters/#findComment-1643030 Share on other sites

Don't recall if the chaos one does. I've done this in BA, using Lemartes stats to represent the high chaplain of my successor. Never did this with chaos. But I've seen it. I've bumped into Huron (he seems the most likely to do this with) as the leader of a DIY band. the jeske
well there is two views on that and both are more or less true . First it sucks that to play a good army you have to play BL or use "counts as" , if you try to build a "pure" cult or legion army it just doesnt cut it or can always be made better , if you add some cult unit or marked lord/Dp/sorc . second thing is that there isnt much you can do about it . If you want to play a good army there is no other options have to go BL . As the "special" HQ goes . We can thank god that the chaos "specials" suck hard , so one does not see the all the time [like eldrad or when the new sm codex comes their "specials"]. Personally I dont do counts as or use proxies . I would say its ok if you sculpt your own model or at least make it converted a lot , but if you plop a plastic zerker and say its abadon am just going to roll my eyes .[not that abadon is a good option or something ]. Lord_Caerolion
What Jeske said is the least I would expect. As long as you have converted a model for your Counts As lord, I'm happy with it. Basically, as long as it looks special, and matches the rules of the character.
