first off let me say, that dreadnought is very well painted, and nicely done. THe base is a nice added touch and really brings out the dreadnought. However, the dreadnought to me looks very plain and boring. The pose seems like its just sitting there, turned off/on guard, and although the paint job is well done, and the weathering is nice, it just very bland looking. The dreadnought has no markins, no insignia, no details that make it go over the top. So to me it looks very unfinished for those very reasons. The weathering is good, but even if it was a real life dread, or a rogue dread, it would have some form of markings on it, even if the markings were scratched off or weathered in them selves.

Otherwise, great job, but i really felt i should give an honest critique on the model. Congrats on the gold for it too.

akaranseth: that dread, for being completely void of heavy (or any?) modification is really, really well done. Awesome weathering technique. BUT maybe more importantly, did you know you are behind on your once per year post count? :)

Thank you guys for your comments. As for the marking I had initially planned to have a 43 on the right panel but only remembered to do it once the weathering was well under way... so a little bit late.

As for posting more often I'll see the number of space marine i'll bew doing... I am solely a painter and therefore paint what come under my hand. A space marine once in a while but not that often. So next time I have one I'll let you know.

the painting is incredible, the snow effect is well done

but if i was a golden demon judge the lame pose would have probably influenced my decision in a very negative way

just trying to be constructive right here

congrats on gold, for the paintjob its well deserved as with the base, admittedly as others have said the pose is bland but in my opinion the paintjob really makes up for that

what is your recipe for the snow? and are your girders platicard ones that you can buy?

Snow is a mix of bicarbonate, pva glue and water. Once set and dry I glue powdered glass with thin down pva glue. I usually add gloss medium in my mix to make it glossy depending on the effect but here I forgot... the joys of finishing a piece at 5am...

Good work, dreadnoughts can be fun to paint. Congradulations winning without a forgeworld model.

Good to see the strirations and weathering techniques are still apprechiated. I'm going to have to come up with some new tricks...
