Gargantuan
It's time to raise this blog from the dead! ;) I haven't done much and I need to get 1000 pts painted for a small tournament with some friends. Sorry about the lack of updates. I will post my army list and what I will need to paint tomorrow and I will maybe post the background story I'm working on. Daemon prince, very WIP... :D http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/PICT3188.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142310-alpha-legion-army-blog/page/3/#findComment-1877697 Share on other sites
Lord Hereticus
Very cool looking army so far! It's always great to see the Legion get some more loving and I'm happy to see you have ressurrected this thread. I love the use of the beastmen as cultist versions of units you may not usually see in an AL army and the dread is just awesome. Keep up the great work brother! WarpWhisper
Nice to see more Alpha Legion reappear from deep cover! I second Hereticus in that the Dread is awesome! Have you got any conversion ideas for the DP, or is it just a straight paint job? I don't know which chapter they've stolen the tank from. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of painting it either as a Ultramarinse or Dark Angels rhino. You should never pass up an opportuniity to anger the UltraSmurfs... :whistling: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142310-alpha-legion-army-blog/page/3/#findComment-1878317 Share on other sites
Gargantuan
Edit: Thanks for the comments! Edit II: "Have you got any conversion ideas for the DP, or is it just a straight paint job?" He wont be converted. I love the miniature and I think wings won't look as cool as the vents. I haven't done much yet since I'm having trouble making a good army list, Instead I've been working on planning convertions and the fluff. Here's some of my rough ideas. My army will include a squad* or two of Emperor's Swords traitors and the daemon prince will also be a former member of that chapter. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Emperor%27..._(Ghorstangrad) "The Emperor's Swords were destroyed by the machinations of the Alpha Legion Chaos Space Marines. For over a dozen generations Alpha Legion manipulated the slums, gangs, and sects of Ghorstangrad, the Emperor's Swords' homeworld. Alpha Legion placed subconscious triggers in the rituals used by the gangs and sects. It was from these gangs and sects that the Emperor's Swords recruited new Space Marines. When the Alpha Legion attacked Ghorstangrad, they were able to use these triggers to disorient and confuse a good number of the Emperor's Swords. These Swords even turned on their brother marines. In the ensuing chaos, the Emperor's Swords ceased to be. Some joined the Alpha Legion. Those that did not died and had their gene-seed harvested for use by the Alpha Legion." The daemon prince** leads the warband but the sorcerer**, who's acting as counselor and seer, will have the real power. He was the one guiding the prince and his fellow Emperor's Swords marines while he was mortal, helping him find ancient chaos artefacts and guiding him on the path to daemonhood. I'm not very good at doing background stories so any help will be appreciated. :) *Most likely Khorne berzerkers without bunny ears and some imperial parts **They need names... :) I will try to make my dread and some terminators ready for priming today... WarpWhisper
My army will include a squad* or two of Emperor's Swords traitors*Most likely Khorne berzerkers without bunny ears and some imperial parts The DA Veteran sprue has some sword iconography on some of its bits that I once contemplated using for these guys. I'm not very good at doing background stories so any help will be appreciated. You've got a good start there. Maybe work out what your HQs did before they were 'turned' and their relationship before. And ask why the Sorceror is helping the DP; Chaos is essentially selfish, so why didn't the Sorceror take all these gifts/artifacts for himself? A little of internal intrigue goes a long way... I just happen to have some DA sprues lying around, hadn't thought about them, thanks. :P I want them to be khorne worshippers since I got 20 bloodletters and I'm thinking of getting some more. Hmm, I just got some inspiration. I'll start making a Emperors Swords prototype marine now. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142310-alpha-legion-army-blog/page/3/#findComment-1879973 Share on other sites
Gargantuan
Some progress on my daemon prince. http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/PICT3189.jpg Two Emperor's Swords traitor marines... They will count as Khorne Berzerkers. All of them will have some flesh visible. http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/PICT3190.jpg http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/PICT3191.jpg http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/PICT3192.jpg The second one needs stuff on his belt. Rob_Loken
Hey there, that's a really good looking army you got going on there. I was thinking about you rhino and I reckon that you should have it from the Emperors Swords chapter to keep it tied in with you're army. Plus with there being no paint scheme for them you can go wild. Real nice army. Gargantuan
Looking good! :D Where's the spiky hair head from? It's from the fantasy Chaos marauder horsemen kit. There's alot of nice heads on in that kit. All ES marines will have bare heads. I will play a 40k in 40 minutes next weekend so I will have to have 400pts painted by then. Here's what I need to do. 5 CSM One with IoCG and one with plasma gun 5 CSM One with IoCG and one with flamer 5 Berzerkers/Emperors Swords 8 Bloodletters @ Brother Duncs Hmm, that could work. :) I need to think about it a bit more. Gargantuan
Got a bit bored and I got the urge to paint without a brush. I decided to paint Malloc, my daemon prince, before the destruction of the Emperors Swords It's just a rough sketch right now though. http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/Malloc.gif I'd like to paint him in his various stages of corruption. DracoDarco
99% of chaos warbands are alpha legion, to bad only 5% know it, the paint scheme seems solid and I really like the count as Khorne Berserkers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142310-alpha-legion-army-blog/page/3/#findComment-1883456 Share on other sites
Gargantuan
These alpha legionarres might turn to nurgle... I will probably convert them into Death Guard for multible reasons... I've always loved Nurgle My DG scheme is quicker to paint and looks better Don't like chosen (the rules), I prefer Dreads and terminators Typhus ;) etc So, here's my test plague marine. Very happy with how fast they can be painted. http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/PICT3197.jpg Here's a DG wip termi http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/PICT3205.jpg http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/91Gargantuan/PICT3206.jpg Sorry Alpha fans, I just got converted to nurgle (I was sick last week ;)) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142310-alpha-legion-army-blog/page/3/#findComment-1898392 Share on other sites
