Fleet and Disembarking

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've played 4 or 5 battles with 5th ed now, and feel I'm pretty sorted as to how my SM are gonna cope with it.

However, one of my regular opponents is an Eldar player so I've been re-reading the Eldar Codex to see how 5th ed is gonna integrate with it.

The only thing that I can't quite decide on is whether Eldar can disembark from a vehicle that has moved and assault due to the 'Fleet' special ability.

I'm thinking not, as it specifically states in the transport rules that if the unit disembarks from a moving vehilce, it can't assault.

However, troops that disembark can Run instead of shooting, and Fleet is the same as Run, but you get to assault.

I'll ask before we play where he stands on the matter, so I'd like some arguments and counter-arguments, if you please!

Regards.

correct. fleet does not over rule this, it over rules the restriction on charging after running (first page of assault section)

that said - don't use your turn to get within 15-20" of a falcon or wave serpent access point if it's carying models you don't want to be charged by, just like in 4th. (2" disembark+6" move+1-6" fleet+6" charge)

That's good advice, right there. Cheers for feedback.
