CaligulaX
Okay, so the other day, my gaming group came onto a little problem regarding the No Retreat rule. Here's the situation: A Carnifex and a large squad of Hormagaunts charge a squad of Marines. Now, since Tyranids in Synapse are affected by No Retreat, the smart SM player would direct all possible attacks against the Gaunts, thus causing a large number of wounds. With a bit of luck, he just might cause more wounds than the opponent, so the 'Nids are now subject to additional wounds. The problem is, that according to the No Retreat wording EACH SQUAD takes the number of wounds its SIDE lost by. So in the example above, if the 'Nids lost by four wounds, the Gaunts take four saves AND the Canifex takes four saves. Is this right? It would seem that Fearless (or equivalent) units supporting each other in CC is a bit of a dangerous proposal. What does everyone else think? Imriel
You're forgeting that without the support of the other, both the Carnifax and the Hormagaunts might have lost by more than 4 wounds, and would have been forced to take even more saves.
