Citizen
So today I went to watch The Dark Knight (awesome, by the way) and whilst in town decided to pick up a model to convert into a Wolf Lord. After chatting with a staff member, going through options such as a rune priest, Archon, and Helbricht, I settled on this Dark Angel model: http://i34.tinypic.com/2l9kx0n.gif My plan so far is to whack on a squad leaders backpack, fur GS all over the cape, and maybe put a goblin wolf rider's wolf head on the left shoulder, carved to fit and GS-ed to blend in. I also have to file off the sword on his chest, and maybe replace it with a small wolf's head. An unwilling existing space wolf has donated his head for the project, and I plan to add a big beard, as well as longer fangs. Any other ideas at all are welcome. The huge sword will be painted up as a frost blade, and that's all I have planned so far. I was a bit dubious about the model at first, due to how static it looks, but it's managed to win me over when I think about it, as a veteran Wolf Lord wouldn't act like a Blood Claw, leaping into battle, but would rather assess the situation beforehand. As I said, ideas of any kind welcome, including what I should do with the feathers. GS them as a fur dangle thing, leave them as they are, or take them off completely. Cheers. EDIT: I've also just thought, there's a certain irony to bludgeoning a dark angel into becoming a space wolf. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142609-dark-angels-commander-into-wolf-lord/ Share on other sites
angerforce
The most logical thing to replace the feathers with would be wolf-tails, as the old metal SW-termies had that on their storm bolters instead of DW-feathers. I think it's a capital idea to convert this great DA-model into a Wolf Lord! Really fitting as the chapters are connected. The Lion and the Wolf and all that. I would, however, suggest you replace the sword with a large chain-sword (think "eviscerator") as this would make the model even more unique and space-wolf-y. Other than that: I look forward to seeing what you come up with! :P /Angerforce. Citizen
Well, I've left it as the sword. It's attached to the leg pretty thoroughly, and I don't have the tools to remove it. Most of the green stuffing is done, I've undercoated it, and laid down the main colours, so I'll get pictures up as soon as my pa finishes using the main pc. WATCH THIS SPACE! EDIT: Pictures taken, and voila. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg254/gunner-recall/DSC03823.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg254/gunner-recall/DSC03825.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg254/gunner-recall/DSC03826.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg254/gunner-recall/DSC03824.jpg As you can see, I should really cut away the beard and start again. I'm going to paint it though, and see how it turns out before deciding to do that. I need to do a few touch ups on the cloak itself, especially around the head. The head is one from the goblin wolf riders, with the bottom jaw cut off, as well as parts of the top, and all the fur between the ears, so it's more traditionally wolfy. I'll get more photos up as I start painting it properly, but what are your opinions so far? Hubernator
the hairdo doesn't match the beard IMHO. Apart from that looks good :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142609-dark-angels-commander-into-wolf-lord/#findComment-1651356 Share on other sites

Korloth Darkwolf
The hair is a little too neat compared to the beard. It needs a little more "agd wildness" to it. Also the feathers on the sword handle need a think, keep them and maybe add a couple of teeth to make a talisman type thing. Apart from that the model looks very wolfy for a DA mini so job done there i think!
