Been a while since the last update...I've been working on my Emperor's Storm Tactical Squad as well as some non PA'd minis.

I have 4 members done, and started the Sgt. I'm also working on another Marine, but I can't show it, as it's for the RaF Marine contest.

comin along :P

started working on the conversions again, but i need new drill bits before i can get more work done on your librarian

Thanks...the squad is working so far, but in about a week, I'll be taking a break from this project to start on the Space Marine "Iwo Jima" diorama I just snagged on Ebay. The only question is...convert it, or build it as is...

Merry Christmas to MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love your work as always and it's always interesting to see what you do with your 'painterly' style next. It might be down to me taking more of an interest in NMM but the gold (especially on the shoulder pads) really glows. As for the Ebay haul; I'd only do subtle changes to the piece and paint it up to your usual amazing standard.

More of what I've been working on for my army:

A generic Chaplain, using no actual black -

Thanks all!

that chaplain and those jump legs look familiar :woot:

everything is looking good, in fact a lot of things are looking better...specifically the blending and the lighting

You got it...that's "your" Chaplain. I decided I really like that model, and a conversion would only detract from what I feel is GW's finer sculpts. I'm including him in my army.

As far as the new army...I figured I wanted an army to play with, and I also wanted to practice blending, and trying different methods. I've started base coating a bit more instead of going right over the primer. I like the way it's turning out. I'm hoping the practice will improve my competition pieces, and make them smoother. On each Marine so far, I've tried different blending methods, concentrating on (and changing) the sequencing of layers. That's why some of them look good, and others not so good. The Sgt. is coming along nicely, except I keep losing my actual desired color in the middle (on all of them). I'm going back in and glazing it in, but it still seems a little subdued.

This will be, and has been, a learning experience for sure.

well remember if you go over your desired colour it will not look the same...if you put red over it, and then try to glaze it back, it will still be slightly redish...this is how you can soften shadows, by going back over with the main colour to kinda bring the shadows back in line with the colour

Hey, first time stopping by this thread, and I have to say, I am floored by the quality here.

I personally love the recent Chaplain most, just for the color, which is beautiful. I'm assuming it's glazed, because of the thinness of the paint on the belt buckle. Any way you can share a little info on how you got the color? I'd love to do the same on my Chappy.

Great work on the rest of the Marines, too. Dynamic, well painted, and really gritty. I love it. Keep up the great work.
