Dourine
In the new rulebook, it says anyone with jet packs gets the relentless rule, however, in the tau codex, it says suits must stand still when firing heavy weapons. I'm guessing the codex takes precedence but i just wanted the opinion of a few people here to look at the two rules and agree with me. DarKHaZZ13
i know it says codex takes precendent, but tau are the only race with jet packs so in all honesty I personally would use the rule book *insert comment about lack of Power Armour!* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142649-question-about-tau/#findComment-1650772 Share on other sites
Whoopxi
There was talk about this in another thread. Basicly... New rulebook > codex unless it specifies differently in the rulebook. That is what appears to be the general agreement Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142649-question-about-tau/#findComment-1650828 Share on other sites
Cyber_Wulf
well put it this way. there arent actually an awful lot of heavy weapons a battlesuit can be equipped with. in fact none spring to immediate mind. the jetpack relentless thing is probably best exemplified with teh tau drones. especially the marker droner and these are now relentless and no longer have to hover still to fire their networked 'light. this makes them ridiculously useful in suit squads now. hack n slash
Agreed as the only other heavy is the rail gun but that suit has no jet packs as they got taken to fit the guns. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/142649-question-about-tau/#findComment-1651566 Share on other sites
Blackraine
Actually, this does have a pretty big impact on the Tau. Both Drones and Stealth Suits have Jetpacks and both can also have markerlights (a heavy weapon). The new relentless rule means that Stealth Suits with attached Marker Drones can move, mark, and shoot their burst cannons at BS 5 or even higher (with enough marker drones) since marker drones have networked markerlights that can be used by the same unit. Granted, each marker drone is another 30 points of wargear, but I wouldn't see a problem giving them 4 marker drones and, perhaps, a bunch of gun drones as well. If you managed to get all 4 marker drones to hit, your stealth suits would be BS 7, and the twin-linked drones would be BS 6... craziness! Sniper Drones also carry heavy weapons, though the pathfinder aiming for them doesn't have a jet pack and thus cannot fire his marker light if any of the drones move. drakkhenkc
If you managed to get all 4 marker drones to hit, your stealth suits would be BS 7, and the twin-linked drones would be BS 6... craziness! The markerlight can only boost a BS to a max of 5 - however, there is no cap on penalizing cover saves. With enough marker drones hovering around, those 4+ cover saves everyone is enjoying will go bye-bye. That does make me wonder - can the markerlight's cover-save nerf affect vehicle cover saves as well? The only reason it couldn't before is because they didn't have them.ML's can still target vehicle's. Cyber_Wulf
agreed. the rules implicitly state that a vehicle gets a COVER save complate with all implications (cant recall teh exact wording) but this would mean that as a a cover save can be modified by a light then vehicles enjoying the high life beihind a forest may well be a lot less safe from railguns that they originally thought. Also remember that things like flamers and heavy flamers, although can only rarely hurt vehicles wud negate any cover save they got.
