Smurfalypse
Well the other day a friend of mine was on AIM at work and we started doing our boring chit chat about 40k. Going over this rule and that rule in 5th and things we didnt notice before ect ect...Well i came across one rule and it kinda perked my interest, what i read was the "Preparing reserves" area on page 95. This is the part that actually caught my interest "Similarly, the player must specify if the transport vehicle in reserve is carrying any of the infantry units and/or independent characters in reserve. If they do, the unit and the transport will be rolled for togheter and will arrive together. Remember that a dedicated transport can only be deployed, and consequently can only be kept in reserve, either empty or transporting the unit it was selected with (plus any independent characters)." So my first thought was that i could have a rhino with havoc launchers on the board empty with a unit of chosen and their assault weapons waiting in reserve to come on a short table edge. Then i realized another rule that can really enhance this who idea in general. The dedicated transport section on page 67. "The only limitation of the dedicated transport is that when it is deployed it can only carry the unit it was selected with (plus any independent characters). After the game begins, it can then transport any friendly infantry unit, subject to transport capacity and other special exclusions, as explained in the vehicle's entry (it might not be able to transport terminators, for example.)" This is where it kinda hit me (and this may have been brought up already, i dunno), but you could take a three man term unit with combi-meltas and heavy flamer for very cheap and give them a land raider dedicated transport. This allows you to hold them in reserve for deep striking (which you must announce to your opponent), but the land raider itself can start empty on the board. This also allows you to field lets say a 10 man havoc squad with x2 meltagun and x2 flamers or some combo of assault weaponry and on the first turn move within two inches of the entrance point to the raider and get in. The raider can then move its 6 inches and fire a lascannon or whatever kinda weapon you want. Now this may not be game breaking, but it definitely can add a huge twist to any list as you are basically subbing out a heavy spot for an elite unit that has arguably the most resilient tank in the game and a small unit of terms that will most likely deep strike and kill a vehicle, all for one elite slot. This is a very good trade IMO but thats the point of this post...Am i over seeing how good this might be or can this be viable. Thanks in advance for responses. Massawyrm
Yep. This is where these bizarre 8 Land Raider lists are coming from right now. Totally viable, not at all broken. Kalrik
Not Game breaking at all really, If you wanted to , and points allowing, you could fill all your heavy support slots with oblits, take 3 squads of terminators in this regard, and 3 dedicated land raiders, and put your khorne beserkers into their land raiders first turn, toss a lord and some icons into the squads, and thats a fairly effective but costly army right there... Might be fun. I wouldn't use it much myself, but could be loads of fun Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143043-going-over-the-rulebook-and/#findComment-1656221 Share on other sites

Roultox
You can field a land raider army in 2k. 3 Term units of 3, 3 reapers + 3 raiders+2 Havoc Launchers+2 5 man units with single meltas+3 Raiders, 2 havoc launchers + 1 sorcerer with doombolt is about 1995. Smurfalypse
This would be a very good way for Iron Warrior players to field their coveted FOUR HEAVIES...God i hate them, though i used to run daemon bomb (albeit with one unit of each god none of that favoritism crap  ) so i suppose i have no room to talk  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143043-going-over-the-rulebook-and/#findComment-1656635 Share on other sites
Drudge Dreadnought
Its a shame we can't take any of the special landraider patterns. If we could take crusaders and stuff an all landraider army would be deadly. Heh...Know what is kinda sad, in the new SM dex there are a confirmed 4 different land speeders, 3 land raiders, for a grand total of 7 different vehicles...That beats out the amount of total different vehicles in our dex :P Rhino+Land Raider+Predator+Defiler+Vindicator+Dreadnaught = 6 Now i know that probably is more than most codexs have so this isnt unique to chaos, but i kinda find it a slap in a face none the less. Heck if you add in dreads they will have an amazing 10 vehicle choices just from three different variants...Talk about options, GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY!
