Black Legion Terminator

El-Diablo

Recommended Posts

Well, after having some varnish issues i've finished the first terminator. Everything is ok except for the head. There's so much detail on there, but having a poor mould made it all a little soft so I had to make do. Pleased overall though, enough to try a second at least. Plus, I hate photographing black. The black is highlighted, honest.

Thanks to everyone that commented on the wip thread.

Cheers guys, glad you like it.

it looks too clean. maybe try making it look 10000 years old.

what's the point in enslaving worlds if you can't get someone to polish your armour?

that blank shoulderplate is screaming out for something though

I did try some minor weathering around the feet but the camera washed it out. Im going to try again on the next one so we'll see how that goes.

The blank shoulder pad is bothering me, but hopefully forge world will pull their finger out and do legion specific shoulder pad sets. I may attempt some freehand on it at a later date though.

Beautiful. A nice clean mini showcasing all the beautiful details.

Mold lines removed well....perfect.

That black...recipe please ;)

Thanks very much.

The black is pretty easy.

-black basecoat,

-first highlight of 60/40 black/bleached bone

-add fortress grey to the black/bone mix for subsequent highlights.

I took the topmost shot and cranked up the brightness in photoshop and he does indeed have beautiful highlights.

The Combi-Plasma is really great, I like the stubby look it has.

About it looking too clean, I can see weathering/grit on the trims, the powerfist cable, and the chainmail skirt so he's not 100% clean. The reason he looks so clean might be the pouch on the trophy rack and of course the skulls (which I'd never retouch if I were you, as they're simply too 'smooth')

Maybe dirty up the pouch to break it up a little?

I also don't think he needs battle-damage, he's a black legionnaire after all.
