Prtyjedi
j0 Just finished my first squad for my latest DIY Chapter attempt. Basic tactical squad. You may notice that the left shoulder pad is empty. It will remain so until the DIY Chapter is ready fluff-wise. Enjoy the pics. C+C welcome. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/PrtyLizardJedi/FinTactical_FstHalf_s.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/PrtyLizardJedi/FinTactical_SecHalf_s.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/PrtyLizardJedi/FinTactical_Sgt01_s.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/PrtyLizardJedi/FinTactical_Sgt02_s.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/PrtyLizardJedi/FinTactical_Dmg_s.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/PrtyLizardJedi/FinTactical_Pose_s.jpg Links Tactical Squad Squad, first half Squad, second half Sergeant 01 Sergeant 02 Battle-Damaged Brother The Pose Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143254-diy-chapter-first-squad/ Share on other sites
nurglespuss
Hi  Those are some nice looking marines. Thats an unusual colour scheme, I 'think' it works, However, seeing as you posted here, you obviously want constructive comments: I think the grey knee pad needs to be differentially coloured (white or blue?) to help break up the light grey scheme, looking forward to seeing more :> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143254-diy-chapter-first-squad/#findComment-1658861 Share on other sites
Mal
You may also want to either paint a small black circle in the end of the barrels or drill a hole and paint the inside black (sonething I will eventually get around to doing for my minis). Other than thats, its a clean crisp painting scheme, not seen its like before, but it doesn't contrast painfully and its not too subtle that it'll blend. Good choice of colours. Prtyjedi
Thanks a lot. I've been considering getting the drill, and I may do that soon. If so I'll give the treatment to all my bolters. L0NEW0LF
nice original sceme and neatly done too. i'm not to sure with the blue and grey (i'd have prefered the red/grey or white grey split but their your marines) one thing you could try is doing a grey kneepad on the blue leg and a blue knee pad on the grey leg (just a thought) and i'd definitely second the idea to black dot or drill the bolters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143254-diy-chapter-first-squad/#findComment-1658889 Share on other sites
Xenocidal Maniac
Nice job. I like them a lot. They have a kind of arctic feel. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143254-diy-chapter-first-squad/#findComment-1659118 Share on other sites
Prtyjedi
Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions. I'm not a fan of colouring kneepads, as it often looks (to me) slightly out of place, even more so with Mk. 6 greaves. I might be getting that drill in a few days. If not, I'll paint the black on the barrel ends. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143254-diy-chapter-first-squad/#findComment-1659139 Share on other sites
Brother of the Temple
I'm not sold on the split color scheme. I like each half blue w/black pad and grey w/ white and red pad. I'm just not sure if I like them together. It just seems really busy to me. Maybe if the left shoulder pad was rimmed with the same grey color. I think it's the red that is throwing me off. WingsOfTheFalcon
Nice conversion on the axe, consider that robbed!! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143254-diy-chapter-first-squad/#findComment-1659747 Share on other sites
Prtyjedi
Thanks, though I kind of botched my conversion. Turned out too messy, so I'm tring to disguise it as some kind of fur grip. Marek Grimfang
I see an artic feel as well, and the chapter name "storm something" comes to mind. st.germaine
I like split (and quartered) schemes so I'm inclined to like these guys right off the bat. I don't think I'd paint the grey kneepad another color although this is frequently a comment I make to break up a large expanse of a single color. It does need something however. Perhaps a squad number on the gray knee and a campaign badge on the blue knee. I have to agree with the comments about the shoulder pads however. One black and one white with a blue rim vs a red rim - too much going on here. (Red on both or blue on both) and (black on both or white on both) would be a major step in the right direction. The current layout is somewhat jarring. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143254-diy-chapter-first-squad/#findComment-1663467 Share on other sites
