brother varen
How is the best way to represent the Red Corsairs army wise? Would you use cult warriors (ie... Khorne berserkers, noise marines, nurgle marines)? I have read the story in the book "Into the Maelstrom", but would the cult troops hinder Huron's pirate army? brother varen
Also would Huron use Daemons and Daemon Engines like the Defiler? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143269-red-corsairs/#findComment-1659103 Share on other sites
Jarulek
Huron is a pirate and a rebel who just recently turned away from the light of the corpse emperor. So it's most likely he hasn't been tainted that much by the Empyrean yet. They recide in the Maelstrom though. I'd stay away from daemons, icons, cult troops and daemon engines. Instead I would rely more on the Space Marine wargear: Terminators, Chosen (Veterans), Chaos Space Marines, Rhinos, Bikers, Havocs, Predators, Vindicators and Land Raiders. TheDarkApostle
Though, Horun is also said to have sold his soul to the powers of Chaos Undivided already. As such it's fully plausible for them to have deamons and possessed and the like. And they are well-known for alliances with other Chaos forces as well as buying alot of equipment as well as services from both their Chaos bretheren as well as other renegade Space Marine mercenaries. As such they can in fact have pretty much anything they want. TDA Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143269-red-corsairs/#findComment-1659145 Share on other sites
Vodunius
I'll probably get shouted down for this, but I reckon the Lost and the Damned or IAvol5 Renegades list would be best for Red Corsairs: hordes of bloodthirsty deck-slaves backed up by a small cadre of their Red Corsair masters. Actually, that's how I envision pretty much all Chaos Forces to actually be. Except for a few specialist raiding forces where normal humans would just be a disadvantage. Roultox
Red Corsairs are chaotic pirates, I assume them to be a few chapters, lots of stragglers that joined, topped off with great equipment from many successful raids and salvage runs. Particularly, that any of them can turn to the powers as easily as any other legion. (Hurons Red Corsairs are legion strength) Its plausible that any number of them can turn to the chaos powers. brother varen
In the story, "Into the Maelstrom", Huron is implied that he has cult troops that are housed in different parts of his ship. Should i go with this or go with the pirate space marines list? TheDarkApostle
From the Chaos Wolves topic, I think my reply there apply pretty well for this topic as well: i dont read the old dex anymore to not feel sad. Then I'll quote the passage for you; "Lufgt Huron renamed himself Huron Blackheart and his Chapter the Red Corsairs, and sold his soul to the undivided power of Chaos. To this day, many of those few Space Marines who tragically fall to the lure of Chaos are to be found within the ranks of the Red Corsairs, embittered and twisted by the evil power of Chaos..." Underlines are my own for emphasis on IMO important parts of the text. So, as you can see it would appear that Huron is closer to a Chaos worshipper then just a simple renegade. :P TDA TDA Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143269-red-corsairs/#findComment-1660262 Share on other sites
